I would not rule it out. After I finished reading Fundamentals I will decide if I will be a Marxist or not.

If you decide on it you are not Marxist from the beginning. It is a process of arrival to conclusions.

I had a hard time becoming Marxist because of idealist concept. It was very hard to break it.

I made no such decision before I even started. I wait for more information to see if the theory is reasonable enough to take further. I need to make a decision at some point. I think I will know after I have read all the basics.

I was hardcore idealist.

My difficulties are also idealist. Absolute, dogmatic and mystical thinking, as a response to stress. I guess the illusion of a decision is also idealism, but letting go of it.

And the consequences of idealism hit me so hard I'm still not fully recovered.

So it is not a decision. If it for me to decide I would stay idealist.

I say try your idealism hard to shatter it.

What consequences of hardcore idealism did you find?

@Deleted User absence of result is the worst. I was also been destroyed by the pressure I've put myself under. Even physically. But also personally.

That is why the promise of Heaven is such a successful psychological trick. It forces a gamble and you never know whether it is true or not. Then the idealistic mind wants to believe, the subconciousness wants to believe, and also to avoid Hell. Fear is the other side to suppress Reason.

Certain personalities are vulnerable.

Most non-adult not yet educated are. Most adults are vulnerable. That is why I think to use idealism is more efficient than to fanatically eradicate it.

Lenin was wrong on it I think.

Also suffering and stress make people more religious. Marx mentioned its pain killing effects. You can not punish religion out of people. You only reinforce it in their minds. You make martyrs.

@Deleted User I think, both directions should take place at the same time. One is to educate idealists into diamat. Second is to use remaining idealism for a better good.

If you can't completely destroy it - lead it.

Anyway, for me, I think to embrace hardcore idealism would be a one way trip.
