Everything passes through the filter of our minds. Its upto our consiousness to work out what is true and what we decide is true becomes part of the filter and alters what we percive as true in future.

On realising this we can adapt our process of learning to essentially use a new filter for each new thing, so previous truths do not distort future truths. This helps us find a greater/more accurate truth.

However, it is difficult or even impossible to completely renew the filter. So everything no matter how hard we try will always be distorted and therefore partially untrue. A spook.
