Which logic? Aristotlean or?

2017-08-26 08:34:36 UTC

@Deleted User Yet for humans, it is instinct to care for their young because they are unable to fend for themselves in a natural environment at a very young age, and are very susceptible to disease, and infection.

2017-08-26 08:34:49 UTC

Just the regular kind of logic. The same kind underlying pretty much all of math.

2017-08-26 08:35:01 UTC

When people *don't* use these basic axioms, things get wacky.

2017-08-26 08:35:06 UTC

@Deleted User Yes, exactly. But this is uncommon in animal kingdom.

2017-08-26 08:35:15 UTC

If A = B and B = C, then A = C.

2017-08-26 08:35:21 UTC

Prove that to me without your fee-fees.

2017-08-26 08:35:41 UTC

@Deleted User That's what makes humans and most species of apes unique.

2017-08-26 08:35:46 UTC

>regular logic
>doesn't know the difference between philosophy and maths

2017-08-26 08:35:54 UTC

(In terms of caring for their young)

2017-08-26 08:36:09 UTC

The fucking Peano axioms then. I think I explained myself pretty well but if you're gonna get nitpicky.

2017-08-26 08:36:18 UTC

Expalin the Peano axioms without resorting to gut feeling.

2017-08-26 08:36:56 UTC

Read Kant.

2017-08-26 08:37:02 UTC

Lol didn't think you could.

2017-08-26 08:37:07 UTC

>muh Kant

2017-08-26 08:37:14 UTC

What are you, Ruskie?

2017-08-26 08:37:32 UTC

Read Wittgenstein

2017-08-26 08:37:36 UTC

Peano is maths.

2017-08-26 08:37:48 UTC

So when you try to claim that morality doesn't exist because the basic foundations of morality are based on gut feeling, just know that the exact same argument applies to math.

2017-08-26 08:38:24 UTC

Math isn't real either and all things are relative. It still works pretty damn well though, to such an extent that I think it's fair to call it real (if abstract) but I don't really care what you call it. It works and we *should* use it.

2017-08-26 08:38:32 UTC

Oh boy.

2017-08-26 08:38:39 UTC

should should should

2017-08-26 08:38:41 UTC

It is useful.

2017-08-26 08:38:45 UTC

It makes sense.

2017-08-26 08:39:05 UTC

You're comparing apples and oranges.

2017-08-26 08:39:31 UTC

@discordian#3213 Math is fucking dum an sheit

2017-08-26 08:39:38 UTC

[Aristotelian screeching]

2017-08-26 08:40:02 UTC

ololol I mean it's just arguing over word definitions at some point

2017-08-26 08:40:18 UTC

But I used math to demonstrate that nothing is free of gut feeling.

2017-08-26 08:40:23 UTC

Math *and* logic btw.

2017-08-26 08:40:36 UTC

Of course. Humans have feelings. This you can have.

2017-08-26 08:40:42 UTC

You can't call me out for logical fallacies without resorting to a system of logic built upon axioms based on gut feelings.

2017-08-26 08:40:44 UTC

@discordian#3213 If I print out a math equation in a 3D printer, does that make math real?

2017-08-26 08:41:10 UTC

Only if that equation is five pounds of flax.

2017-08-26 08:41:45 UTC

The "can math into real" is way too advanced for anyone here imho

2017-08-26 08:42:16 UTC

Easily one of the hardest philosophical questions out there

2017-08-26 08:42:21 UTC

You think?

2017-08-26 08:42:27 UTC

Yup

2017-08-26 08:42:46 UTC

It's the ultimate underlying fabric. Shrug.

2017-08-26 08:43:06 UTC

I've read a small bit of it, and my brain hurt '~'
