when politics and their lives inevitably come together, they quickly develop beliefs

2019-09-19 19:23:31 UTC

they'll give a talking point they heard a thousand times and immediately cave

2019-09-19 19:23:39 UTC

most people, living in an alienated society

2019-09-19 19:23:54 UTC

a world of factories, of steel, of commodities

2019-09-19 19:24:37 UTC

in this world, there is no use for beliefs

2019-09-19 19:24:43 UTC

beliefs don't put food on the table

2019-09-19 19:24:52 UTC

manifestos don't bring health insurance

2019-09-19 19:25:12 UTC

but when that world starts to crack, to shear

2019-09-19 19:25:28 UTC

beliefs become the difference between life and death, and our souls find life once more

2019-09-19 19:25:49 UTC

people will just believe what the pack around them does

2019-09-19 19:26:52 UTC

sometimes, but often not

2019-09-19 19:27:12 UTC

after all, why are mass shootings continuously increasing in frequency?

2019-09-19 19:27:33 UTC

various reasons

2019-09-19 19:28:14 UTC

Some people are mental, some use it as a tool to spread manifestos and beliefs, martyrdom

2019-09-19 19:28:35 UTC

some people may just wanna kill a bunch of others

2019-09-19 19:28:38 UTC

nah

2019-09-19 19:28:42 UTC

it's a product of alienation

2019-09-19 19:28:56 UTC

lashing out against a constantly intensifying claustrophobia

2019-09-19 19:31:02 UTC

we're trapped, pinned, caged

2019-09-19 19:31:13 UTC

more and more people are realising that, and they react in different ways

2019-09-19 19:31:20 UTC

depression rates, skyrocketing

2019-09-19 19:31:21 UTC

I'm sure alienation is a factor

2019-09-19 19:31:25 UTC

mass shooting rates, skyrocketing

2019-09-19 19:31:31 UTC

bipolar rates, skyrocketing

2019-09-19 19:31:32 UTC

I imagine it goes deeper than that though

2019-09-19 19:31:36 UTC

suicide rates, skyrocketing

2019-09-19 19:31:42 UTC

alienation is incredibly deep

2019-09-19 19:32:13 UTC

our personal autonomy has been robbed from us

2019-09-19 19:32:18 UTC

and that kind of thing affects people

2019-09-19 19:32:33 UTC

we've taken such horrific concepts as 'mid life crisis' and normalised them totally

2019-09-19 19:33:12 UTC

grown men suddenly wanting to kill themselves, throwing themselves into all sorts of flings and spending money lavishly in a desperate attempt to *feel* once again isn't 'just a part of life'

2019-09-19 19:33:23 UTC

it's an atrocity

2019-09-19 19:33:42 UTC

things like this have been increasing in scale and intensity, and will continue to do so

2019-09-19 19:33:53 UTC

pollution was bad once

2019-09-19 19:34:06 UTC

it has done little other than get worse since we first started doing it

2019-09-19 19:34:25 UTC

they patched up the ozone layer as factories quadrupled in quantity

2019-09-19 19:35:22 UTC

rachel carson wrote her environmentalist novel 'silent spring' as the aral sea was disappearing

2019-09-19 19:35:59 UTC

things have done nothing more than get much worse for hundreds of years and we're only just now realising on a societal level that it's going to keep doing that until we make some serious changes

2019-09-19 19:38:36 UTC

Sorry doing homework, I just don't see how you can attribute all of this to alienation. I certainly see it as a factor but your acting like it is the sole instigator.

2019-09-19 19:39:50 UTC

In the cases of alienation your mentioning there's also a huge umbrella of causes to what leads to people feeling this way

2019-09-19 19:40:36 UTC

alienation is not a sole instigator, rather a consequence
