Only got side screenshots of it. But ja it's a SA-330 Puma an old Armed Assault model or ARMA 2 can't remember exactly
shouldn't it still be brown since its still border timeline or was it that colour
IIRC the Pumas early war were OD. But were then given a camouflage pattern. Let me post some reference images
thx
OD green very early war
Later on with the camouflage pattern

Puma 164 sadly shot down in 1979
oh yea i see now
They were shot down in Mozambique during Operation Uric/Bootlace
damn
that was just luck for the enemy
Well the Pumas and Alouettes were vulnerable to enemy 23mm and 14,7mm AA fire. Hence why they were bombed by fast movers before the rotorcraft moved in.
But sometimes were caught off guard. Like another Puma that was shot down by SWAPO during Operation Meebos II
Not easy to spot an AA gun emplacement in the bush
And I'm sure that's going to be the case in the mod itself. Ground forces will have to deal with anti-air emplacements otherwise the choppers are going to have a hard time
Ground forces or fast movers. How I'm going to deal with the fixed wing aircraft will be interesting... As IIRC SQUAD won't be including flyable fixed wing aircraft. They'll be controlled by AI like Post Scriptum. I don't really want to do that but of course if there is no feasible way to implement flyable aircraft due to the size of the maps then they'll have to be implemented the same way as PS.
its gonna be like rising storm vietnam when we have to land somewhere
But ja finding a good place to land will be tricky on some maps with the thick bush
Could just hover
and have the guys jump out
i know some of the places was wide open so maybe that could help but that leads to the guys being sitting ducks
Ja if landing in a hot LZ it's preferable to have guys on the ground first to secure the LZ.
Otherwise you're just landing right into an enemy ambush
exactly so im thinking a Alouette goes in first with a fire team to clear the LZ somewhat for the Pumas/Oryxes
Ja well there may be various scenarios that would play out in LZ's depending on the situation
If you've got ground forces nearby it's best to have them secure the LZ first then land.
If no ground forces nearby then have fixed wing bomb the area or smoke it up and then land
Best way to minimize the risk of an LZ ambush
true
we'll have to test everthing ones we get there
Yup
I'm keen to see how different the meta will be compared to vanilla SQUAD
No optics, thick bush, different vehicles (SADF side anyway)
Closer engagements on many maps due to the environment and lack of scopes
Trying to get some decent black skin on the FAPLA reskins
They look weird... Bone structure is off 😬
Shrunk the camouflage pattern and made the head black
