You know there is common misconception that the US goes to war for oil. To date we have never taken ANY oil from ANY country we've gone to war with. In Iraq, we liberated the the country, spent billions putting out their oil field fires, spent billions putting their refineries back online and then BOUGHT their refined products at higher prices than the market value. In Afghanistan, the stabilization brought by the US military allowed the nation to begin building an oil pipeline from Northern India to Eastern Turkmenistan that will net the Afghanis $400 million a year, the building is 100% funded by the US. The fact that big oil is involved after the facts means nothing because they are BUYING oil from the nations at or above market value with those nations profiting in a MAJOR way.

Hell, If I became king of the US, I'd immediately withdraw ALL military personnel from foreign soil (including embassy protection) , all naval vessels to within 100 miles of territorial waters. And I'd put the UN on a barge and tow it out that far and let the rest of the world know where they are. Fug 'em all, they need to take care of themselves.
