What PC parts? Where?

2021-03-03 05:12:26 UTC

i dumped only 19.54 into a RAID card, gonna try and build a nas eventually

2021-03-03 05:43:17 UTC

That's cheap for a quality RAID/HBA card. Gather its last generation SAS 6GB or even just sata?

2021-03-03 09:20:39 UTC

I build my new PC 2 weeks ago. I found everything xd

2021-03-03 13:23:51 UTC

Noice

2021-03-03 13:48:59 UTC

I'm 90% sure I overpaid on some parts

2021-03-03 13:49:30 UTC

But my old PC is dying so I consider it justified

2021-03-03 14:07:50 UTC

I would really like to get a 3060 TI some day

2021-03-03 14:08:27 UTC

It would be nice

2021-03-03 14:08:37 UTC

But by the time I can afford that

2021-03-03 14:09:07 UTC

It will be the old one

2021-03-03 14:09:11 UTC

I could afford it but justifying replacing my perfectly fine GPU is hard

2021-03-03 14:09:20 UTC

Yeah

2021-03-03 14:09:48 UTC

I just recently upgraded my GPU and I got a lot of expenses coming up so

2021-03-03 14:09:59 UTC

I have a 1660 Super

2021-03-03 14:10:05 UTC

Nice

2021-03-03 14:10:23 UTC

Another thing about upgrading my GPU is my monitors are 1080 144hz

2021-03-03 14:10:46 UTC

So don’t think I would be able to push the performance of a 3060

2021-03-03 14:14:04 UTC

I just have a 1050 Ti

2021-03-03 14:14:14 UTC

But I only have one monitor so it works

2021-03-03 15:29:43 UTC

I bought a 1660 for the time being

2021-03-03 15:30:11 UTC

Until the 3080 is back in stock wt reasonable prices

2021-03-03 15:30:26 UTC

Currently have a gtx 1660 and a gtx 760 in my system

2021-03-03 16:03:29 UTC

I guess I could do that

2021-03-03 16:03:42 UTC

The one I took out is a 1030

2021-03-03 19:45:23 UTC

I have a few 1050ti's

2021-03-03 21:01:44 UTC

Even "better" ! Dell PERC 5/i! Best SAS 3Gb/s RAID card 2006 has to offer XD

2021-03-03 21:02:03 UTC

It has 8 ports, supports raid 10, all i needed

2021-03-03 21:03:51 UTC

I just got it because it was the cheapest one that came with the cables, i will probably upgrade it if i upgrade beyond gigabit for my home network

2021-03-03 21:08:25 UTC

If you mean 8 physical ports, being able to handle 32 drives at full (3 GB) isn't bad.

2021-03-03 22:03:44 UTC

no, 2 sff-idfk ports, 4 drive per port

2021-03-03 22:04:32 UTC

is there a good resource on all the sff-xxxx ports?

2021-03-03 22:04:33 UTC

althought it can probably do more with a SAS expander

2021-03-03 22:05:17 UTC

i only have a single drive in it now, so all its doing is adding 512mb ddr2 cache

2021-03-03 22:05:22 UTC

writeback and read ahead

2021-03-03 22:06:23 UTC

i also got an Oracle F40 Flash Accelerator, that i will use for caching, once i have a proper server motherboard

2021-03-03 22:06:23 UTC

rn i'm just using some ancient g41 core 2 duo board, with only 1 pcie slot

2021-03-03 22:27:06 UTC

anyone here ever heard of powerline Ethernet adapters?

2021-03-04 00:44:20 UTC

Yep, never tried em tho

2021-03-04 00:44:57 UTC

they'd be a possible option if 1. you don't/can't run an ethernet cable and 2. there is too much interference for wifi to work right

2021-03-04 00:45:29 UTC

like if your neighbor uses a 60s microwave that completely nukes the 2.4ghz spectrum
