I believe NoMercys original argument was against what happened during the inquisition though.
Let me pose to you two examples Paul
Well yes that was unbiblical
Also I love how your name is “no mercy” and you’re advocating for mercy
Mercy from justice that is
God gives us mercy from his just wrath
Yes.
We all know about some particular individual who gained the title of a serial killer. The killed for no reason other than they felt a desire to do so. That is my first example, they kill for no reason, they kill because they like it, and they cannot be trusted not to do so again.
There was a man who had a very good friend of his who he helped out of the gutters. He even helped him get a job and he treated him like family. However this man he help, kidnapped his kid, took him and left with him after the abduction. Eventually he was found and captured and he had raped his boy. The man had all the evidence that would send him away for life. But in the transporting of him, the father shot him in the chest killing him and then surrendered and gladly accepted his prison time.
That man killed once, and would not kill again, because he wanted his boy to sleep at night knowing he was safe and he would never have to fear that man again.
That is someone pushed to their limit and killing.
That is an extreme argument
example
Its still a example of the differences.
sorry
Oh thats true.
I didnt make that story up.
I don’t agree with the man’s actions, I believe it is the laws place to punish, but I don’t think that is a case where the man should be executed
I didn't know that
I show no mercy in an argument when a person makes a bad one.
Genesis 6:9 “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his image”
It’s still murder. There is no difference in sin, there is a difference in consequence
All sin is the same in God’s eyes. He says that even if you hate your brother, you have committed murder before the LORD
We should seek justice not vengeance, and yes I know that many people get through the cracks in our system.
^^
The mans state of mind was understandable, but that isn't how we should do things.
Well I guess in that mans eyes, after taking a man who lived in the slums, getting him a job, helping him get a house, reboot his life, make a fresh start, treated him like family, and then he steals his son and molests him, a life sentence was not just.
Though, that man was a dead man walking as soon as he got in jail and word about him diddling kids got around.
It wasn’t, and I agree that the rapist should have been executed. But it was not the fathers place
But again
Life isnt a happy ending.
And sometimes people break.
Thats why god invented forgiveness.
So you started out by saying that execution is wrong, and then you just said that a life sentence wasn’t just
God also invented justice
I never said ANYTHING against execution.
well considering what usually happens to rapists in prison, a death sentence might be going easy on him.
sorry
That’s what you’ve been debating me about
My original argument was incompatable beleifs CANNOT exist in the church, and toleration of such contradictions are not possible for christians.
Well I agree
