okay
Which is the bible? Which we follow?
What was Joseph Smith?
A prophet?
I will be back soon
so @Kriegs Commissar McCraw, the problem being (to me as a christian) that your faith/authority is not placed entirely in the bible, but also something that a man wrote
Gotta shower
Have fun!!
KJV 1611 was the first english translation, from there due to copyright laws, at least 30% of a change to wording has to be made. for other versions.
Prophet seer and revelator
The bible was also written by men
So he was a prophet?
Yes
It was inspired by GOd but written by men, its accuracy like in the book of isiah predicting Jesus's whole life a few hundred years before he was born testifies to that
in my opinion, if the bible is truly the sovereign word of God, he would keep it true no matter what translation it was in. yes, some things get lost in translation but its not impossible to track back to the root
By stating this you already alter the character of Christ, who fulfilled the Law and the Prophets. There could not have been one after Him
exactly
The BOM is the testimony of several prophets and a small history of the America's
Inspired by god, written by men,
which we believe to be false prophets
How?
All versions also tell us that it is hidden to those who do not believe and revealed to those who do.
And? Atheists believe the bible false, does that make it false?
No, it doesn't
good point, but Christ fulfilled every promise and prophecy in the bible except one, which would be the rapture (that He would come back one day)
Its not about whether someone believes it or not, though I realize they always demand proof, what is, just is
He can speak to every one of us individually now, why would we need 'special prophets'?
By way of the fact that Christ fulfilled the Law and the Prophets. Because He fulfilled it there can’t be any prophets after Christ. If you say that there are then you also say by correlation that Jesus didn’t fulfill the Law and Prophets and was 1. a liar and 2. not the Messiah.
In my opinion
Jesus fulfilled the law, yes.
But how the prophets? Where in the bible?
they came before Jesus
John the Baptist was the last prophet, he was to pave the way for his coming...
I cite the one case where a bunch of mormons ran away from the church after receiving revalation
As christians, the holy spirit lives inside of us, we can have a personal relationship with christ, and it makes no logical sense for us to have 'more important belivers' after that time
Matthew 5:17
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
@Kriegs Commissar McCraw
but how can you know that revelation was genuine?
Let’s not try to be abrasive though
I’m not saying anyone is
But just that some people can get hot headed
Through testimony, much the same way we believe Jesus...
Because it did not run contrary to the lords commandants
im back might be awhile till i catch up tho
