Yes

2021-02-08 00:12:51 UTC

Y=mx+b if x = 0 and b = 5

2021-02-08 00:24:55 UTC

that simplifys to y = 5

2021-02-08 00:42:53 UTC

Exacrly

2021-02-08 00:59:33 UTC

idk how to use algebra to prove a vertical line though

2021-02-08 01:20:24 UTC

@2Lazy2BeOriginal I it is because you can’t calculate m (the slope) so it all gets screwed up. If you have to prove it, then you would use that formula that calculates slope, y2 - y1 over x2 - x1. Then it’ll always end up as some y value over zero, since the x values are equivalent to each other and when subtracted will always make zero, and any number over zero is undefined since you cannot divide by zero.

2021-02-08 01:22:04 UTC

yeah other than doing dividing by 0

2021-02-08 01:22:43 UTC

But idk how you can get to the conclusion x = 5 for example using slope intercept

2021-02-08 01:28:35 UTC

Idk if this is what you needed or if this was your question, but if you have two points on a line, you can use the slope formula (y2 - y1 over x2 - x1) to find the slope. So if you have two points you can do that.

If you’re given a graph, you can count between two points using rise over run though I know graphs aren’t always given. Also Idk if this even answers your question lol. I might’ve misunderstood

2021-02-08 01:29:30 UTC

it doesn't but dont bother. I already know to find a slope on linear

2021-02-08 01:30:31 UTC

That’s good, wish I could’ve been more helpful. Good luck! @ me if you need anything because I might have an answer (possibly, lol).

2021-02-08 01:31:56 UTC

I kept my old algebra notes and I’m currently going through them myself so having a question to answer helps me review.

2021-02-08 03:02:10 UTC

Wouldnt that just be undefined

2021-02-08 03:02:32 UTC

It is

2021-02-08 03:03:17 UTC

There is y = 5 for a horizontal and x = 3 for a vertical line. Idk how to prove x = 3 using logic

2021-02-08 03:03:27 UTC

Ah

2021-02-08 03:03:32 UTC

for horizontal if the slope is 0 than it simplify to y = 5

2021-02-08 06:06:06 UTC

I just turned in a test three seconds late<:Teeth:798301808996384828> meaning I get an F maybe

2021-02-08 06:06:55 UTC

good luck with that man

2021-02-08 06:07:24 UTC

maybe try and say that you had spotty internet and had trouble turning it in

2021-02-08 06:08:33 UTC

I mean, i had a whole weekend to do it and I turned it in at midnight<:KEK:795742276549607456> whatever i get is purely on me, no excuses

2021-02-08 13:20:15 UTC

still, fat rip my dude.

2021-02-08 14:03:56 UTC

At least you have a good attitude about it. I know so many people who would lose their minds about one bad or potentially bad grade. Good luck!

2021-02-08 14:23:14 UTC

lol, you *obviously* (jk) know nothing about highschoolers. Either you cry your brains out about a B+ or say "fuck it, I can't be bothered" and deal with what you get.

can anyone help me with this problem

2021-02-08 15:25:00 UTC

^^

2021-02-08 15:30:30 UTC

dog what class r u in? I feel like I never learned this and im a senior. :/

2021-02-08 15:31:15 UTC

im in 8th grade but im not learning this in class

2021-02-08 15:31:39 UTC

just doing online tests to learn math

2021-02-08 15:31:42 UTC

idk

2021-02-08 15:31:47 UTC

oh. gotcha

2021-02-08 15:31:53 UTC

anyways, I think I figured it out

2021-02-08 15:31:59 UTC

okie

2021-02-08 15:32:00 UTC

so gimme a second

2021-02-08 15:32:09 UTC

i solved it but what is ur answer

2021-02-08 15:33:59 UTC

oh, nvm

2021-02-08 15:34:12 UTC

i dont know how to get the actually number -_-
