@Metaphysical Monarchist there's a direct descendant of the O'Neills among the Spanish nobility, there's technically the Plantagenets in Oz if you're a Jacobite but the plan was before WW1 to invite a German prince to become king because 1: he wouldn't speak English, 2: it would ally us to a major power opposed to Britain, and 3: it would help prevent us from being culturally colonised by America or further by Britain

I'm personally for any of the three, but if I were to propose a monarch who would have actual power I'd nearly invite one of the Trump's or a figure from among our own elites, like Belgium did

I'm not so much of a legitimist as many Irish rightist nationalists are, most support a sort of Roman republic just because they don't believe we have a royal family in exile like the French do, tbh if I were a yank and a monarchist I'd support one of the Trump's unironically becoming emperor

We saw in Spain what the fruits of legitimism really are, Franco hands over all the power and the king hands it all back

Still legitimacy by birthright is obviously powerful, but I'd prefer the first of a line to be supremely competent than just bear a name
