I'm not sure if that's entirely true - you can see the light from something that bright for quite a long way. I don't know the math or anything, but I don't find it unreasonable.

being able to see an arch all the way back to the ground within your range of vision....keep in mind that if theres curvature its too large to be able to see it like that
