Reddit can be useful for people selling things and some niche communities with varying severites of autism like long ramge shooting amd embroidery.
Bring back actual fucking forums.
Lmao no.
Photobucket suddenly jewing everyone at once killed the independent forum
This is true, but that doesn't mean independent forums themselves weren't a comfy way of building a community
Remember SA
"please login to see any content","please support to access this part",<way too large image what needs to be side scrolled> . .............
ahh good old forums
never again
If we just do it right this time
@Tervy what's wrong with your computer that you can't browse properly
oh and forgot the worst of em all "necro thread please go kil lyourself"
Something awful forums are still alive
Also here is a fun one 'waiting for moderator to approve you by hand'
Discord is a nail in the coffin of forums. Everything is so splintered and fucked now. Can't be searched or archived properly either. It's kinda completely fucked a fundamental part of the internet.
I used to run a forum for me an all my high school buddies to shoot the shit. If you pay like... 5 bucks a month, you can have plenty of space to hold user images on-site
No need for photobucket or that other one I can't remember the name of
discord is some monkey-paw web 3.0 shit
I like discord. But there's value in having a slower paced place to conversate.
That is bad times. That one guy who asked questions at a political thing got his dirty laundry aired in public because he also used that same account to post about like, liking pregnant women or something.
everything is pretty ephemeral, and many awesome things that could and would otherwise be on forums and bookmarkable etc are now locked in some random fucking discord. Maybe it's "pinned" for a while but even those spaces run out, so great content that could otherwise be on a forum is pretty inaccessible and lost.
admittedly plenty of it wouldn't be on a forum, and would be lost in even-more-ephemeral chatrooms but the idea still stands

The amount of times "you are x poster" is used to invalidate an argument is shocking on Reddit
Just because Hitler says your house isnonnfire and it's Hitler. Doesn't mean your house is not on fire
if even a fraction of content posted in all these hundreds of discord communities was on forums instead, there'd be some pretty great threads to lurk
Eh, forums are the same
Having one unified persona across the entire internet is just a bad idea
twitter also took a bite out of forum usage, but at least it's still proper ungated internet. It's not some fucking random app with gated communities
and mirrored windows
I've got like 3 usernames
Except archivable solutions to problems most threads necro after a couple months
Hey fucko, install the tapatalk app
Jesus, matt
Was it matt?
Who posted that disgusting pic
i got an email from pizza hut
what the hell
They arent very good apparently.
