I dunno, what do people refrence most? I make it a point to try things that are culturally important to see if I can internalize the feeling.
People reference OoT the msot but its a toss up between OoT and Wind Waker which people like the most, teh OG is great as well as zleda 2

Zelda games have great gameplay usually and a good plot
@johnfrum ocarina of time is the most suggested, but it's overrated when compared to modern games. The control scheme is so meh
If you're gonna play a 64 Zelda game, make it Majoras mask, it's a better story
