Even if you reduced charge enough to equivocate the black powders energy, smokeless still burns at a much different rate

Black powder is an explosive, smokeless isnt in a technical sense

Smokeless is always dangerous in a blackpowder gun

Though reduced charge smokeless has been used in metallic cartridge era black powder cartridges

Like the germans did with 11mm mauser for awhile

And theyve modernized .44-40, and .45-70 for smokeless
