I mean technically they aren't breaking his copyright if they don't sell the game in the United states since that's where his copyright is held
Also if they got banned from Patreon I have no idea wtf they did. I make porn games, I got a message from patreon saying "please make all adult content posts patron only, and carry on"
but with the internet that whole thing is really fucked
they're trying to get it on steam and also kickstarter is an american company, so I think he'll have some leverage there
I mean the legal rights are a grey area, but it still rustles my jimmies because the studio sounds like absolute knobs
True copyright law is screwy for companies that operate online
I don't get it. It's a name. People know there is a difference between a channel and a video game.
So there is no issue, only a fabricated one.
The problem I'm seeing is they're killing off Tim's brand by having a larger e-penis, and I wouldn't be surprised if they're doing that on purpose
basically they're taking over the brand
That and it could bring negative publicity on the brand name being connected to what could be classified a porn game
Eh debatable. The two appeared about the same tine
And the game iirc is european.
subverse appeared this year I believe, Tim has been working on his for 4+
Nobody would look at the two products, and confuse the two.
But he only released it this year
The channel
ah
He has had others for years yes. But that specific one he created about the same time
I doubt either party knew about the others
I believe he said he had contacted them about the Patreon thing for a video
it could be a coincidence, but they definitely knew about Tim by the time they picked their name
Subverse is on patreon? (The game)? Its been on kickstarter for some time.
the creators of subverse were on patreon before
then they got banned, and tim covered that in a story
Ah so Tim knew they were called subverse, was this before he officially launched his new channel?
and he reached out for a comment, to which they replied something along the lines of "you make shitty jordan peterson videos"
no this was before they made subverse
They key tho. Comes down to who trademarked/copywrite the name first. In the end that's all the law will care about.
Or if it is
afaik the game holds the UK one, tim holds the US one
so he contacted them about it and asked them if they'd be willing to change their name for their US release
Then he canf control it in the UK, and can only affect the us one. If they didnt there as awell
to which they responded that he'll just have to get legal action involved
But as for a lawyer on retainer? Dude should have had one a while ago
yeah he has a lawer
Lawyers aren't cheap to keep on retainer.
but actually battling it in court is expensive
Even the cheap ones.
