Corporations have their mission statements as well lol

2019-08-31 23:20:45 UTC

Googles "do no evil"

2019-08-31 23:20:48 UTC

Kek

2019-08-31 23:21:04 UTC

google did cut out the No part

2019-08-31 23:21:31 UTC

The difference between a state and a corporation is that the corporation has to actually earn its money

2019-08-31 23:21:41 UTC

The state just takes it by force

2019-08-31 23:22:43 UTC

I was about to post that

2019-08-31 23:23:03 UTC

That shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what I'm even saying

2019-08-31 23:23:07 UTC

Corporations are built to provide a good or service in exchange for something else to make a profit. This may or may not be beneficial to the public good but at least they are a predictable. A government is beholden to many more interests than corporations and thus are less trustworthy even if they may serve the public better in some cases. This is why we should still have some govt. presence although it should be small and heavily watched

2019-08-31 23:23:40 UTC

@-5K- maybe, but I can also choose a different company in the free market

2019-08-31 23:23:51 UTC

Can I choose a different rapist?

2019-08-31 23:24:44 UTC

@MountainMan You can choose to avoid and never do business with every single one of the companies listed.

Can you choose to not do business with your govt?

2019-08-31 23:24:51 UTC

You can choose a different private police force which covers rapes at a premium discount for the first 30 days

2019-08-31 23:25:07 UTC

I agree, but how would you choose a different decentralized law system? @Fitzydog

2019-08-31 23:25:08 UTC

>Monopoly bad when corporation does it

>Monopoly good when government does it

<:cleanyourroom:429612328192049152> <:cleanyourroom:429612328192049152> <:cleanyourroom:429612328192049152>

2019-08-31 23:25:17 UTC

That'd be great.

At least they show up, unlike the public police

2019-08-31 23:25:21 UTC

Monopoly always bad

2019-08-31 23:25:36 UTC

Then why monopolize state violence?

2019-08-31 23:25:50 UTC

Wait So you're for private police?

2019-08-31 23:25:51 UTC

don't you have like 3 police forces?

2019-08-31 23:25:56 UTC

or more

2019-08-31 23:26:02 UTC

Local, state and federal

2019-08-31 23:26:08 UTC

All of which don't earn their money?

2019-08-31 23:26:21 UTC

Private courts <:think_woke:378717098681171988>

2019-08-31 23:26:25 UTC

And have jurisdictions that they monopolize over

2019-08-31 23:26:33 UTC

@GeorgyBoyo We already have private courts

2019-08-31 23:26:37 UTC

Private police forces wouldn't be the problem, it would be differing law systems

2019-08-31 23:26:54 UTC

A police force is a public good, it's not meant to reap profits, it's meant to look out for the public.

2019-08-31 23:27:03 UTC

Fun fact: most contract disputes are handled by private courts.

We already do this.

2019-08-31 23:27:15 UTC

@Capitán Alatriste And yet they fail

2019-08-31 23:27:20 UTC

But they have a monopoly on "looking out for the public"

2019-08-31 23:27:21 UTC

they don't

2019-08-31 23:27:27 UTC

Lol okay

2019-08-31 23:27:33 UTC

in the US they do. <:pepe_smug:560207654207750154> @Capitán Alatriste

2019-08-31 23:27:36 UTC

Looking out for the public is what the state is for

2019-08-31 23:27:37 UTC

When seconds count, the police are minutes away

2019-08-31 23:27:59 UTC

tfw when police dosent need by law to protect you in the US

2019-08-31 23:28:07 UTC

oh yeah, well when the local sheriff's diet is based on donuts and can't run 5 meters without getting a heart attack, then yeah perhaps your police is shit...

2019-08-31 23:28:15 UTC

A private security firm that patrols my neighborhood would be loads better than my local sheriff

2019-08-31 23:28:32 UTC

Why pay for what you don't need?
