I was using it as a metaphor of how they could probably wait out on there saved funds for a while but they won't last for long.
Like I understand atm that the West needs the oil that Islam provides but as soon as we get our heads out of our asses and start using nuclear power they will lose all influence on the world stage
Grid power generation isn't what we use the majority of oil for.
Nuclear power is _great_ and all, but it will do jackshit for that.
The only times we use oil for grid power is diesel generators, and we would need those with or without nuclear power simply because we need easily rampable auxillary power sources.

The power source isn't what's keeping us from EVs.
Its the price of the cars, the lack of power density, and shit like that.
And that's extremely inefficient quick charging.
By comparison ordinary charging on something like a Nissan LEAF is downright dirt cheap
Now the one thing it would help is the fact that a massive fleet of EVs would overload the power grid of any western country as they are now. A switch to nuclear power would greatly lessen or eliminate that problem....but there's several dozen hurdles to jump through before that even becomes an issue worth thinking about.
First and foremost is the price issue. Right now it is impossible to sell EVs at a price that benefits both consumers and automakers.
Most automakers sell them at a loss, and cover those losses with the hybrid and gasoline cars that _do_ make money, such as Ford's _massively_ profitable F150. Others are like Tesla. They just lose money. Shit tons of it - $1.5 billion in Tesla's case, to be specific.
