#EndTheCombine

2018-08-07 01:41:29 UTC

as consumers ppl need to shop with their wallets

2018-08-07 01:43:29 UTC

lol I don't use my wallet.

2018-08-07 01:43:43 UTC

There's no 'shopping'

2018-08-07 01:45:02 UTC

@Deleted User no they haven't. They are private companies that can do whatever they fucking want mate.

2018-08-07 01:45:26 UTC

Private corporations don't have to protect or provide free speech.

2018-08-07 01:45:51 UTC

@Shurik lolkay

2018-08-07 01:48:00 UTC

@Shurik Yet leftists think that a religious baker has to bake a cake for gays whether he likes it or not.

2018-08-07 01:49:02 UTC

I mean they kind of have a point there with the 14th amendment and the non discrimination act.

2018-08-07 01:49:10 UTC

But I don't agree with that point

2018-08-07 01:50:17 UTC

@Fitzydog I mean is that all really news? I've been aware of this sort of stuff for ages. This kind of data gathering has been almost standard for the past decade. And data transfer/selling.

2018-08-07 01:50:43 UTC

"Lol it's free enterprise, bruh! You can go elsewhere!"

2018-08-07 01:50:52 UTC

You can. Lmao

2018-08-07 01:51:00 UTC

You didn't watch the video then

2018-08-07 01:51:11 UTC

Yeah well, these private companies are censoring anyone they don't like and they hold a monopoly on social media, tech, and the world wide web. They're WAY TOO POWERFUL to not be regulated by the federal government, in fact in my opinion, they need to be regulated even more than any other industry out there. @Shurik

2018-08-07 01:52:45 UTC

I'm watching it and talking about it at the same time

2018-08-07 01:53:32 UTC

I mean the whole Cambridge analytica thing is bogus just because it was done with a pretty simple scraping bot.

2018-08-07 01:53:47 UTC

How about this? Free to use, and publicly accessible social media platforms should be hands off, and not censor, but paid ones can?

2018-08-07 01:54:52 UTC

At what point is a social media platform considered "the public forum"?

2018-08-07 01:56:31 UTC

@Shurik Facebook has your info, tracks your data, and now wants your bank details, even if you're not on the platform. Where's the choice to not use it then?

2018-08-07 01:57:12 UTC

It should be public for everyone, if it claims to be one.

2018-08-07 01:57:18 UTC

When social media becomes a public forum. That is a super scary place

2018-08-07 01:57:20 UTC

Minds is a perfect example of this.

2018-08-07 01:57:35 UTC

@Deleted User Sure, charge a dollar a month, who cares? If it's free though....

2018-08-07 01:57:46 UTC

@Shurik It already is

2018-08-07 01:57:54 UTC

I'm aware Facebook has a ton of data. I don't particularly care.

2018-08-07 01:58:16 UTC

It's not a public forum. It's a private company that provides a service.

2018-08-07 01:58:33 UTC

That's not what I meant by public forum

2018-08-07 01:59:31 UTC

Like they can use my data all they want. I don't have much to hide nor does Facebook have the processing power to do anything super scary with it at the moment

2018-08-07 02:00:02 UTC

Like big data is scary but not as scary as people make it out to be.

2018-08-07 02:00:21 UTC

Facebook, Twitter, and other social media giants have to be public forums in order for people to have free speech and participate in the market place of ideas. Anyone who tries to deter free speech online like what Mark Cuckerberg, Jack Dorsey, Susan Wojcicki and their cronies are doing by banning people for wrongthink right now should be thrown in jail without any bail.

2018-08-07 02:00:31 UTC

No

2018-08-07 02:00:34 UTC

You're wrong

2018-08-07 02:00:43 UTC

Are you going to address my point, or not?

2018-08-07 02:00:50 UTC

People are allowed to censor on there PRIVATE service

2018-08-07 02:00:53 UTC

Which one?

2018-08-07 02:01:08 UTC

No, I'm right. It's the best way to ensure free speech exists online.

2018-08-07 02:01:11 UTC

It's a *public forum*

2018-08-07 02:01:26 UTC

You assumed my definition

2018-08-07 02:01:30 UTC

Whether those social media giants are private or not.
