Sweden dont have a bail system. so if there is a risk there that you run away from, so if they believe you are a runner you will be in lockup until court date or they are sure you will not run away.
Pretty sure we have extradition agreements with Sweden. If he came home to skip court we'd send him back unless Sweden was clearly not interested in actual justice.
depends. for Scandinavia this was normal procedure for cases like this. the only thing was that he was a celebrity. anyway he was in normal lockup so he was just locked up in a 2 star hotel where he was not allowed to leave. and we have had other celebrity's being caught for shit and when they was let out of the lockup they did just jump on a private jet to never return as no judge in the US will extradite a celebrity
I don't honestly trust foreigners with justice.
The Norwegian army is facing problems finding out why females over represented in second and third degree frost bites from serving in the cold winter weather
@Nordhand but they don't care that the males are over represented in first degree frostbite
We can keep people jailed for 2 weeks so they dont run away. I dont see why theres so much fuss around. So many people have been shitting their pants whilst it has been obvious from the start he'd be freed.

first degree frostbite is not kept track of from what I did read as it not something that end up at the doctor
@MountainMan
We believe that justice should be swift and judged by our peers. You are not the peers of an American. Not an insult, just the reason I dont like to see anyone in a foreign court with foreign rules.
He was a foreign person in our country. Sadly not your laws which he follows here.
Of course. Our own justice seems to take ages, and I find that despicable. But I dont know that Sweden has any sort of guarantee or obligation to get my life in track
I know.
It's why I won't leave America.
And that guy was foolish for going to Sweden.
The guy got a fair trial. Everything is solved.
And while Sweden has the right to prosecute as it likes, I might still voice objections.
Not compulsions
What was there to object against?
Unless it is incredibly egregious like you kidnapped an American to try them
No. We just dont have a bail system like you. We have a maximum of 2 weeks where we can keep someone until they can be tried as we thought he would escape.
I'm not saying there was, just that I dont think it is bad to see a justice system questioned.
He just had to chill for 2 weeks in a hotel.
And beyond the half a month? What would happen then?
Stranded in a foreign country
After the half he could go home or do whatever
He was on a world tour at the time no?
he had been taken to court where the police have to give a good argument on why he is to get two new weeks or let go at least here in norway
Anytime foreigners are involved. The parent nation tends to keep a close eye on the matter, that isn't new.
