the thug culture is a problem for sure, and the "lets get faded" thing too
that sort of media makes it seem okay to fuck your life up
even desirable to make you seem cool
for people who don't have a very active pre frontal cortex then ya it fucks your shit up
I know when I'm at the gym listening to rap and lifting weights I'm thinking about knocking people out
but it stays in the gym
there is also the crime aspect to it. it started in the 90s with rappers talking about how they want to get out of the streets, and it slowly became a status symbol of how tough you are. The state put black people on wellfare, and black people finished the job with their ignorant "culture"
they live in a different world with different rules
it's exactly the value system that is the problem
yeah
african americans have a lot of potential to succeed
but in Canada we have a similar problem with Native americans, and all we do is throw money at them, and it does nothing
I know people who are 1/16 native and have gotten 20k from it, and they go on vacation with it
Welfare doesn't work
whats messed up is that their "culture" doesn't value being smart and hardworking.
well it does but not in the right way
they shit on eachother for "acting smart"
they talk about hustling
and always trying to get rich
via the least efficient ways possible

not easy to rap about banking
right on cue
If welfare or shitty culture were the problem, you would see this happening more often in poor communities
see what happening
mass shootings
those poor communities are too poor to afford guns
that's not the only form of gun violence that people are talking about, if the metrics were only school shootings you'd see no marches
^
nvm
you guys are talking about something different
contrabants specified two areas of gun violence earlier, we sort of segued into the urban element
What i find really dishonest though, is that people in the media and even on youtube were saying that there were already 19 school shootings this year, but didnt specify any further, so it made it seem like they were all mass shootings.
US is not unique in having an issue with a violent male population
has canada had any mass shootings?
I know of one
it's not like people can't do it
my buddy has a whole arsenal of weapons
@obrallaghan
I really don't get your point rn
