What I said about m4 is because the guy in the video says an m4 isn't an assault rifle but a carbine. I thought a crabine was a short barrel assault rifle

2018-03-31 19:15:53 UTC

A m4 is not an ar-15

2018-03-31 19:15:55 UTC

Everything that's black and scary is an assault rifle.

2018-03-31 19:16:15 UTC

They mentioned their own weapons, then said there's no difference between the weapons the military uses and the civilian weapons that need to be banned.

2018-03-31 19:16:42 UTC

And kept saying "assault rifle."

2018-03-31 19:16:53 UTC

So I assume they were calling the civilian rifles "assault rifles."

2018-03-31 19:17:12 UTC

ar15 isn't an assault rifle but m4 is? why? an why does the guy in the video says m4 isn't an assault rifle?

2018-03-31 19:17:27 UTC

Because an AR15 in incapable of full auto fire

2018-03-31 19:17:28 UTC

It isn't.

2018-03-31 19:17:48 UTC

So what do you call it? just a rifle?

2018-03-31 19:17:54 UTC

Yea

2018-03-31 19:17:59 UTC

Or carbine

2018-03-31 19:18:22 UTC

The M4 doesn't have continuous fire.

2018-03-31 19:18:34 UTC

Only single shot and 3 shot burst.

2018-03-31 19:18:37 UTC

M4 does have full auto

2018-03-31 19:18:44 UTC

The A1 does, and both are considered full auto

2018-03-31 19:18:50 UTC

Well, the one they talked about.

2018-03-31 19:19:08 UTC

M4A1 is the one with full auto.

2018-03-31 19:19:25 UTC

So that's why he says m4 isn't an assault rifle?

2018-03-31 19:19:40 UTC

He's wrong

2018-03-31 19:19:57 UTC

Nevertheless the distinction is pointless none of them should be banned

2018-03-31 19:19:58 UTC

assault rifle isn't synonymous with auto fire since most aren't used that way anyway. it was just a term first used to differentiate rifles that were bolt action or didn't us a mag design

2018-03-31 19:20:02 UTC

Then we have to go with "what do you mean by assault rifle" question.

2018-03-31 19:20:06 UTC

He's a US vet btw

2018-03-31 19:20:12 UTC

Acording to the title

2018-03-31 19:20:15 UTC

Not true contrabantz

2018-03-31 19:20:46 UTC

>The term assault rifle is generally attributed to Adolf Hitler

2018-03-31 19:20:47 UTC

An assault rifle is a select-fire intermediate caliber small arm

2018-03-31 19:20:50 UTC

Well shit.

2018-03-31 19:21:00 UTC

That's what I thought

Sturmgewehr

2018-03-31 19:21:59 UTC

>In a strict definition, a firearm must have at least the following characteristics to be considered an assault rifle:
>
> * It must be capable of selective fire.
> * It must have an intermediate-power cartridge: more power than a pistol but less than a standard rifle or battle rifle, such as the 7.92×33mm Kurz, the 7.62x39mm and the 5.56x45mm NATO.
> * Its ammunition must be supplied from a detachable box magazine.
> * It must have an effective range of at least 300 metres (330 yards).

2018-03-31 19:22:04 UTC

it's a loose term with a vague meaning. an assault rifle doesn't need to meet every characteristic to be considered such

2018-03-31 19:22:25 UTC

unless this is some kind of legal term in the US

2018-03-31 19:22:25 UTC

For instance the G3

2018-03-31 19:22:32 UTC

Or whether the M2 carbine counts

2018-03-31 19:22:50 UTC

Or the FAL, since most are semi only

2018-03-31 19:23:15 UTC

There is no legal definition for assault rifle in the US

2018-03-31 19:23:26 UTC

in Canada for legal purposes we refer to weapons as either restricted or non-restricted, a lot less emotional

2018-03-31 19:23:31 UTC

And if there were it wouldn't matter because none of it should be banned

2018-03-31 19:24:20 UTC

The RCMP can ban guns on a whim and confiscate them without warrant, and nowhere along this line is there any elected officials or votes
