I'm not the biggest trump fan but this is incredibly unproffessional
It generate positive outcome from guilty whites
it's very condescending, i dont see how one could agree with their points and not still think theyre kindof being a bi†ch about it 😃
I love the argument against Native headdresses
"those are a sacred thing earned by warriors, you dont just get one"
Who says I didnt earn this in life? Do you know where I've seen and been?
And there is no such respect for anything that came from western culture
"I earned this headdress by surviving Coachella without contracting Hepatitis C"
Like an earned accolade from western culture? Do you have an example?
not an earned accolade, but western culture in general.
being deemed unappropriatable?
Japan is a great example of appropriating western culture
I do NOT find this offensive obvs
Baseball, Levis 501s, what else
a wide variety of western musical instruments
For any youngsters, the Japanese were obsessed with Levis 501 jeans in the 90s. This meant you could sell your 501s to pawnshops for really good money so they can export them to Japan
oh wow, once you get into intruments theres no stop to the appropration, probly almost anywhere
architecture as well
although you could say theyre more inventions, and being useful were never UNLikely to be used across the globe
it's still cultural
i guess there isnt a standard definition of a cultural artifact which can be appropriated. lotta categories may apply or no
its cultural but its also status quo to use many cultural inventions from everywhere
i'll say one thing
the Asian mall is not complaining about my weab ass shopping there and giving them money
the whole thing is silly. Personally I wouldn't wear something with significant cultural value that I didn't earn, just out of respect. But If someone else does it what can you really do, they're just assholes.
And Natives tend to sell their cultural artifacts at various cultural events attended primarily by local whites
What about not clothes? Can I use a Persian rug in my home?
. . . can I shop at IKEA?
I'm mostly talking about things with some spiritual significance.
i'm just following thier logic to its conclusion, which is me asking them whats okay if i do
the majority of "culture appropriation" is just another way to shame white people.
This one is great. Guy gets mad at Simpsons, makes documentary. Simpsons responded with a wink and a laugh--which the critic calls a slap in the face. Yes, not taking you seriously is akin to assault.
https://nextshark.com/simpsons-uses-lisa-throw-shade-apu-racist-stereotype-controversy/
They are mad because they made Lisa address it specifically
I watched this whole video when it came out too
this is how you know we live in prosperous times, people need to find things to complain about
The Problem with Apu is that stereotypes are still funny--maybe because theres a percentage of truth to any stereotype?
plenty people starving in bad health in some slum have to listen to this garbage 😄
the thing is, if you follow this to it's logical conclusion, you will end up with no cultural diversity in entertainment. Like, if you made Apu less stereotypical then it would be "whitewashing". The characters would not be allowed to be genuine because it is perceived as making fun of them. I mean where do people want to go with this stuff? have they thought about it at all?
are movies and tv just going to be segregated
Also once again the most murderous thing someone could do to another human is *make fun of them*
what is the correct way to portray a minority?
apparently its your responsibility as a white media bro to hire a consultant
