which is funny because our grandparents generation was all about responsibility
there has been a massive generational change
its best to tackle issues in an isolated manner
i agree
why confuse something well-definable by including your other arguments
because it's part of modern culture
racial groups sex groups etc can also be from lack and want of identity and cameraderie
well we could get into it if you'd like
youll get into very complex issues very fast, and lose sight
and why groups refuse to take accountability for their actions
yes, we could, but i'm not asking to move into discussing it
when you talk to others oustside here you have to remember whats important to you at that time and what can be handled at that time is all im saying
i'll illustrate using this same conversation
well im making a broad criticism of everyone. I think fat people and how they treat their children is part of a larger cultural phenomena. Which is neglecting responsibility.
they guy above says this is because we dont slap kids, that derails his own argument, because now suddenly everyone has an opinion on what we werent already talking about
We have an attitude in the west that our problems and out poor actions are because of external factors.
its very risky to blame bad parenting in any situation where you dont have that information
the criminal probly had bad parents, but they were nice enough to leave a sweet note on the guys fence
which why there may be an element of truth to it. I think it is disingenuous to blame other people, or society for it.
No i agree, I would just blame the parents for bad parenting.
People like me with a lot of external factors need to be able to learn how to compartmentalize them and be productive in society
I wouldnt blame the media, of television or hollywood or the internet
it's great if a child can grow up with proper guidance. for the rest of us, it's like *well now what*.
I wouldnt even blame biases that exist in society. I think bias is usually a good thing.
the internet is another good example though
who is responsbile for what children view on the internet
the internet provider? the government? or the parents?
seems obvious to me that it is the parents
well then you ask why do so many children below age 10 now have smart phones
the internet is the place a child today will get most of their education
but i actually dont think its very important to protect kids from media
I do
on the other hand, the web is not like TV. its much more complicated
I dont think much is saved by a child not getting to play GTA or see his first titty
wandering into a social group could be pretty harmful though
ok well GTA is a poor medium for sexual education
There's no values being taught in relation to relationships
In fact the exact opposite
I think such an education would be damaging
In fact i know it is because I saw it when i was growing up
i think the more subtle messages they get can be more harmful
