need a small loan of couple mill to start social media platform that dont give a FOOK about what you post if its legal
you wouldn't need that much money
Only oldfarts will remember this one.
Thing is, infrastructure has more or less stalled over the last decade.
Andrei Alexandrescu, a software engineer at Facebook, very famous in C++ circles, said once in a presentation: if an engineer can optimize as little as 1%, on the software they run at their data centers, the savings (in power consumption) are enough to pay for that engineer's salary.
That's how expensive it is to run Facebook.
when you're in the business of selling data, you need to keep a lot of it, which would be unnecessary for a free speech social media alternative
Well, how are you going to pay for the infrastructure?
I work at a data center
One can go through the decentralized route.
But how would you feel about your computer being potentially used to serve ISIS or pedophilia content?
the internet needs to return to a more decentralized culture, with smaller sites that revolve around specific content or interests
twitter, facebook, instagram, etc. all these sites do is share text and video. we need to stop acting like that is so damn complicated
It's not so much the complication as it is the sheer infrastructural horsepower it takes
It's not static content though.
You do need some heavy processing power to update the dynamic part.
Rate my fursona
Is it a chirper?
Or whatever those are called
Your fursona is perfect for target practice
Like all other fursonas

I actually went down a Furry YouTube rabbithole
it's a growing cult
don't
turn back before it's too late
it's the same kind of morbid curiosity that makes me watch gore
tremendous cringe
Yeah
Bakeon have a friend now
What causes the furriness?
How do i keep my children safe from furry influence
I'm especially curious about the ones who are obsessed with some particular cartoon
i bet disney is responsible for more furries than any other single entity
In my past social work job we had term called *perseveration*, the inability to let something go.
