these are physicists
Doesn't mean they're always right. π
i dont see what it has to do with anything
I don't see where this conversation is going
When we have the abilities to manufacture a shit ton of meds, there will eventually be better business for medicine.
well that was your proposal to fix our medical business practice concerns, that we reach type 1
That may require a lot more power than we have right now
Our understanding of the universe and how to use it as a means to improve quality of living is certainly within the concept of civ-1
I haven't read any of this stuff in around 6 years
im not sure if our production capabilities are all that low that we cant actually get this stuff made
Well we can make medicine yes
most of their money i'd assume goes to R&D
Can we make enough of it to treat everyone with the problem at a reasonable cost? Far from it.
Will the shelf-life of the medicine be worth the cost for mass production?
It takes a lot of power to keep something really cold if that's needed.
ya
and we are talking about a growing population
i wonder if the drug Shkreli's company gouged the price on can be excused by cost of production for something almost nobody is buying
The demand is high but the supply is extremely low
taking the objective route he was maximizing his profit
would you suggest any sort of policy reform for the way pharma companies operate, or that they should be left as is?
I don't feel confident enough with the lack of information and research on this topic to advise policies.
I am really saying that it's a pick-your-poison situation, with capitalism having an inevitable long-term benefit.
the most compelling argument against regulation to me, is that R&D will suffer
In a weird and brutal, yet truthful way, suffering is required for others to benefit.
It's also poetic; we are suffering for our children.
sure, we'd have to watch a lot of people die of cancer to cure it
kind of regresses back to one of my core views on things.
goes back to the concept of suffering being necessary in general.
Balance over blind good
Fucking sucks. π
