And now it's low heat back and forth

Israel is already an ethnostate by definition

On one hand there's no liberal defense of what Israel is doing, on the other hand a hamas-controlled islamic theocracy right next to Europe probably isn't best

The thing about Israel and the conflict is that it is very gray, it's hard to stay civil when people on both sides are batshit crazy

You can't expect Israel not to be paranoid when the neighbours celebrate people who murder babies/civilians, teach their kids that killing jews is ok and voted in a political party that has the annihilation of Israel (completely) in its platform

But you can also kind of understand the hate from the Palestinians' side
