Uh

Hooty

2018-05-17 13:48:10 UTC

You do realize that gender dysphora is classified as a mental defect right?

2018-05-17 13:48:12 UTC

Because

2018-05-17 13:48:16 UTC

It's an imbalance

2018-05-17 13:48:18 UTC

In the brain

2018-05-17 13:48:28 UTC

Like how other mental illnesses are imbalances in the brain.

2018-05-17 13:48:40 UTC

So yes. Transgenderism is, by definition, a mental disorder.

2018-05-17 13:48:57 UTC

If you take offense to this then you're just overly sensitive.

2018-05-17 13:48:58 UTC

read the articles

2018-05-17 13:49:30 UTC

Is sociopathy mental illness? As i understand you can predict that from brains of a child as well.

And i am NOT comparing the two just stating that your statement that is is not mental illness due to reasons of brain differences might not be as valid as you think.

@M4Gunner I'm a researcher in Philosophy. I don't have clients

Trans was just where we ended up

2018-05-17 13:50:39 UTC

A lot of things have been called illnesses in history. As i understand not believing in god was one of them.

I've worked in counselling prior which is where the work experience comes from

2018-05-17 13:51:47 UTC

but that was basic "lets just say nice things to you and hope it helps because we have no money to train anyone" shit

2018-05-17 13:52:10 UTC

oh and provide links to online CBT courses 😛

2018-05-17 13:52:44 UTC

oh yeah its atrocious

2018-05-17 13:53:48 UTC

6 month training course to be a practitioner in CBT in the UK. No prior relevent qualifacations needed. Fucking disgusting

2018-05-17 13:55:29 UTC

Therapy, imo, requires time and investment on the therapists part to figure out what each patient would actually respond too

2018-05-17 13:55:44 UTC

Most either don't feel they have to do that, or literally have a work load so high they can't

2018-05-17 13:56:05 UTC

Eh...

2018-05-17 13:56:48 UTC

Most people who engage in self-improvement shit are already doing CBT to the level a therapist would teach them to anyway

2018-05-17 13:57:00 UTC

^ agreed

Well as i understand what psychoanalysts say are less important as compared what patients say. Usually the main point of it is to make the people self-reflect.

2018-05-17 13:58:31 UTC

@Omsomething yah, which means if you are already a reflective person its often just frustrating

2018-05-17 13:58:56 UTC

That is CBT

2018-05-17 13:59:09 UTC

Maybe, could be something one should talk with his psycho analyst.

2018-05-17 13:59:10 UTC

the rest is just window dressing to make you BELIEVE you are doing something more

2018-05-17 13:59:23 UTC

because that belief has been shown to have marked effects on success

2018-05-17 14:00:18 UTC

It takes a lot of trust from the side of the pscyhoanalyst to have more "sharp edges" since it can really clam some people up.

2018-05-17 14:00:22 UTC

I assume.

2018-05-17 14:00:26 UTC

No expert here.

2018-05-17 14:01:41 UTC

I agree with all of that @Omsomething @M4Gunner

2018-05-17 14:02:09 UTC

I wonder is there a book named "How to train your psychoanalyst" out there?

2018-05-17 14:02:44 UTC

Pills can be good at that point. I've found that one of the things meds are good for is quieting parts of the mind so you can see new and different perspectives in the moments of stress. Then use these insights without the meds after the fact.

2018-05-17 14:02:54 UTC

Eh
