More info over time = more unlikely to be accurate as time progresses

2018-06-27 23:47:19 UTC

'They still seem like a bunch of barbarians to me' they were.

2018-06-27 23:47:22 UTC

the place where the Zulus were was a colony until 11 years after the release of the movie

2018-06-27 23:47:49 UTC

nvm

2018-06-27 23:47:56 UTC

Yeah, with brits still living there, they HAD to portray the brits in good light

2018-06-27 23:47:58 UTC

on the map it looked a bit like mozambique had some

2018-06-27 23:48:01 UTC

Politically speaking

2018-06-27 23:48:03 UTC

When the movie was made it was still a colony?

2018-06-27 23:48:11 UTC

It was made in the 60's

2018-06-27 23:48:20 UTC

3 years before

2018-06-27 23:49:04 UTC

nah

2018-06-27 23:49:09 UTC

SA was decolonized by then

2018-06-27 23:49:14 UTC

1961

2018-06-27 23:49:22 UTC

@Baraban would you prefer if the good, the bad and the ugly were more historically accurate?

2018-06-27 23:49:29 UTC

No

2018-06-27 23:49:32 UTC

why?

2018-06-27 23:49:48 UTC

It's not an historical movie

2018-06-27 23:49:51 UTC

Not really

2018-06-27 23:50:23 UTC

Spaghett!

2018-06-27 23:50:39 UTC

Somebody toucha mah Spaghett Western!

2018-06-27 23:50:42 UTC

Plus what I complained about wasn't really historical accuracy, but the Zulu having a really stupid and non sensical strategy in the movie

2018-06-27 23:50:51 UTC

Yeah

2018-06-27 23:50:55 UTC

I assumed as much

2018-06-27 23:51:01 UTC

to a certain extent that was kinda true though.

2018-06-27 23:51:09 UTC

They were limited

2018-06-27 23:51:12 UTC

Not dumb tho

2018-06-27 23:51:30 UTC

you can't really do their main and only tactic when you've got a bunch of chaps with guns defending an encampment.

2018-06-27 23:51:31 UTC

They fucked up the brits in the beginning, retards dont do that

2018-06-27 23:52:15 UTC

keep in mind that the pincer was really their only tactic, and the entire reason behind shaka's rise to power amongst the zulu

2018-06-27 23:52:28 UTC

Yeah, but when you hide in small ravines, that shit is scary, which they did a couple times

2018-06-27 23:52:40 UTC

SNEAK ATTACK MADA FAKAH

2018-06-27 23:53:26 UTC

How did the Brits won the fight in reality anyway? I mean it was still 100 against a few thousands, and they had no artillery

2018-06-27 23:53:42 UTC

Leadership

2018-06-27 23:53:47 UTC

And i think cavalry?

2018-06-27 23:54:08 UTC

The best tacticians always win with crazy odds

2018-06-27 23:54:39 UTC

Its been forever since i read about them tho, so i dont know any definite details

2018-06-27 23:54:46 UTC

pretty much i think. I'm no historian so don't take my word for it, but i believe british order and command saved the day for the most part.

2018-06-27 23:55:03 UTC

None if them broke rank or fleed

2018-06-27 23:55:30 UTC

Plus after the first Horn attack, the leader got away, so they were ready at the next encampment

2018-06-27 23:55:55 UTC

And i think a nearby passing Company of soldiers were close enough for aid

2018-06-27 23:56:18 UTC

point being, it was a fucking rough situation. The british fought hard, the zulu fought hard. the zulu fighting hard and respecting the british ferocity it what makes the film what it is.
