I remember being told that when applying for a job, experience matters more. But at this point, I can't even tell if that's correct anymore since people are constantly bringing other factors into the mix

2018-07-27 22:48:31 UTC

Still think a music degree for game design is a waste of money. Just build a portfolio and present it to smaller companies

2018-07-27 22:48:47 UTC

Hell nearly all the T and M portion would be better set as apprenticeship than degree

2018-07-27 22:49:13 UTC

@Fitzydog True STEM fields require actual understanding

2018-07-27 22:49:17 UTC

You wont get a job. Same with Coder. That first job always wants a degree for entry level

2018-07-27 22:49:27 UTC

I'm doing that at the same time, a reason why I'm attending this course is due to the opportunities that are available with the course such as recording in various studios, meeting prominent and old Musicians and having the chance to learn from them

2018-07-27 22:49:32 UTC

a degree for eating shit is still a degree

2018-07-27 22:49:33 UTC

@Goblin_Slayer_Floki I don't believe you lol

2018-07-27 22:49:42 UTC

might as well build a portfolio of eating shit

2018-07-27 22:50:01 UTC

I'm fairly certain I saw a modern art project somewhere like that

2018-07-27 22:50:05 UTC

Then dont. But try to build a portfolio an go to design company with no work or degree

2018-07-27 22:50:24 UTC

they will go fpr the degree every time. Until you have had your entry level job

2018-07-27 22:50:25 UTC

That's how most of silicon valley works.

2018-07-27 22:50:38 UTC

Thats how it USED to work

2018-07-27 22:50:44 UTC

Until the field was flooded

2018-07-27 22:50:56 UTC

Even more reason to stay the fuck away

2018-07-27 22:51:13 UTC

Why run in the face of adversity?

2018-07-27 22:51:48 UTC

it has to be expected that every game company in the west would be cucked by feminism..

2018-07-27 22:51:55 UTC

@Tens̶u̶s̶h̶i̶ Because if you're worried about your knowledge level, you're not good enough.

2018-07-27 22:52:01 UTC

Not everyone is happy with a *job* some people have dreams

2018-07-27 22:52:06 UTC

That's why I want to work in the Japanese industry

2018-07-27 22:52:19 UTC

japanese will follow

2018-07-27 22:52:29 UTC

2018-07-27 22:52:41 UTC

The japanese industry is far harder to get in/stay in. But less SJW drama

2018-07-27 22:52:42 UTC

white people wont be allowed in japan soon if it was up to the japanese

2018-07-27 22:52:53 UTC

white refugees fleeing sjwism

2018-07-27 22:52:57 UTC

That's why I want to work hard at it Inquisitor

2018-07-27 22:53:18 UTC

Yea the degree will be needed for that foot in the door

2018-07-27 22:53:20 UTC

"I'm a white kid from the UK who doesn't have self-achieved skills in the field I want to enter, so I'm going to get a degree and go work with masters in Japan"

lol good luck.

2018-07-27 22:53:49 UTC

I've been studying and using multiple DAW's since I was 14, I'm currently 21

2018-07-27 22:53:54 UTC

@Tens̶u̶s̶h̶i̶ if you are white than good luck cause you wont succeed at this day and age if you arent fast enough until too many game developers leave their fkg jobs to go to japan

2018-07-27 22:53:54 UTC

I want to learn things that I may not know

2018-07-27 22:54:14 UTC

You know people with self achieved skills still go to college for degrees and certs fool

2018-07-27 22:54:19 UTC

@Tens̶u̶s̶h̶i̶ College won't teach you those things.

2018-07-27 22:54:42 UTC

College will get you certified in systems and does tech some things you may not know

2018-07-27 22:54:44 UTC

that might not even been enough

2018-07-27 22:54:51 UTC

have you made a game when you were like 14

2018-07-27 22:54:52 UTC

otherwise why would stem or any college exist?

2018-07-27 22:55:05 UTC

Music Hannibal

2018-07-27 22:55:06 UTC

No I haven't, that's something that I'm somewhat worried about as well Hannibal

2018-07-27 22:55:27 UTC

@Goblin_Slayer_Floki Colleges don't teach you anything. They test your knowledge and hand out credit.
