@Goblin_Slayer_Floki If he was great at it, he would already be an expert without college. That's the difference between "getting in the door", and being the one selected
Riiight
I do agree with a lot of Infringed's points
he is right though wether you like it or not
it aint easy
You realize 70% of Stem students arnt *masters of the subject* that is a fallacy
He is right, but that isn't going to mean that I will let it hold me back from doing my best and hardest at this
Always have a fallback
@Goblin_Slayer_Floki We're talking about a competitive field like Game Music.
I've been taught that as well, always have a fallback in the music industry
@Goblin_Slayer_Floki what you dont seem to understand is that Most STEM like Archiutectural engineering is different in level of competence compared to something in the gaming industry
That's why I'm building connections so if I don't have work I can contact one so I can be a sound engineer at a gig or tour with bands
not many schools for gaming industry with music
Stuff that I've done previously
I get that
its a far more competitive and difficult thing to succeed in gaming
I agree
My issue is saying going for a degree without entering with *mastery* beforehand is ending in failure
Extremely difficult
@Goblin_Slayer_Floki Look at these guys who do amazing work for community mods like Skyrim, and are still not even in the industry.
todd howard did
I disagree with the mastery point, but I agree with the industry/degree part
or didnt he
And also. Most gaming music isnt internal. They are brought in for the projects from other companies
Yep
There's a lot of sound designers who are freelance
old days used to be simpler
Same companies grabbed for tv, movies, games, cartoons and such
If I remember correctly, isn't gaming one of the largest in the entertainment industry currently?
It's large but I don't think it's the largest
idk about that. It generates the most revenue
I know that it's currently beating the TV industry
Definitely not the largest
Depends if you count low budget indy
it's not all that big
assuming that this is correct: https://www.selectusa.gov/media-entertainment-industry-united-states
Vidya games only account for ~3% of the media and entertainment industry
Hm I see, thanks for clarifying that
I briefly glanced over it on reddit so I should have looked into it instead of assuming, that's my fault there
If you want to make money while you educate yourself, get a somewhat similar trade skill, like an electrician. Lots of old folks are retiring out of that and there's a shortage of workers.
