Why was political protest against Bush with bands like Green Day so iconic but any similar shit today just feels... Cringy and wrong?
Was there just a perfect storm about the post-9/11 atmosphere of 2001-2005 that just made for great protest music?
Ditto to bands like My Chemical Romance. love em or hate em they were created because of 9/11 and really seemed to inspire that generation growing up then.

Because the modern incarnation is inundated with ideological propaganda before and after it's presented whereas the previous iteration was more naturally growing outside from common political life? Maybe?
