This relates to another problem i think which US has. It simply is too large of an entity and should be cut down to smaller nations which do things as they want to do them instead of having some messy "Two law systems on same area" compromise and all kinds of odd inter state rivalries.

The states are basically mini countries that all do their own laws, regulations and enforcement thereof. They are beholden to the Federal Government, but D.C sometimes decides that it knows better

@Omsomething I don't think it is about an extreme of no federal employees, that is an extreme, but more answering the question of what exactly the logical amount of federal employees is.
