There is a sea of philosophy out there, secular philosophy, which underpins moral reasoning, which has moved society throughout the ages. That is how we can reason things are right or wrong and find common agreement. When enough people agree we can have a society. It's that simple. But because morals aren't God given or permanent, but depend on the individual, there are people from every range of beliefs you can imagine. There will always be people who don't give a shit about having slaves, who will rape and murder. Where is their permanent morality? Doesn't exist. If we only took our lessons from religion then society would stagnate, like Islam for the past 700 bloody years.

2018-09-19 01:44:05 UTC

Well Islam's gone down the shitter

2018-09-19 01:44:18 UTC

Well i am not talking about islam

2018-09-19 01:44:28 UTC

They used to do ok, even compared to Europe

2018-09-19 01:44:32 UTC

@Roarey I would argue that that "sea of philosophy" *is* God, in a way.

2018-09-19 01:44:38 UTC

Doesn't matter which religion it is

2018-09-19 01:44:41 UTC

Also secular philosophy has almost nothing objective in those terms

2018-09-19 01:44:54 UTC

That's because morality isn't objective.

2018-09-19 01:45:00 UTC

Wrong

2018-09-19 01:45:03 UTC

lol

2018-09-19 01:45:12 UTC

It is subjective, if it was objective it would remain the same forever

2018-09-19 01:45:13 UTC

@Roarey inb4 MUH SUBJECTIVE MORALITY

2018-09-19 01:45:48 UTC

@M4Gunner i would agree but you grew up in a world which rests on certain christian truths about man

2018-09-19 01:46:03 UTC

secularism is like taking the safety off the gun

2018-09-19 01:46:12 UTC

@Roarey Let me say it once again, for the people in back:

"THE UBIQUITY OF MORALITY IS NOT THE SAME AS ITS OBJECTIVITY"

2018-09-19 01:46:17 UTC

All positions held without evidence are equally wrong in my opinion, I don't see why religion gets treated with such reverence while things with the exact same amount of evidence (none) are laughed at, such as flat earthers or Illuminati retards

2018-09-19 01:46:31 UTC

@Fitzydog where is this ubiquity?

2018-09-19 01:46:39 UTC

@Fitzydog why dont people listen <:think_woke:378717098681171988>

2018-09-19 01:46:43 UTC

@Roarey You mean its *lack*?

2018-09-19 01:47:01 UTC

@radeon don’t forget about 9/11 “truthers”

2018-09-19 01:47:20 UTC

@Fitzydog I've no idea what the fuck you're on about now lol.

2018-09-19 01:47:27 UTC

Someone ask bakeon for evidence of the law of identity

2018-09-19 01:47:34 UTC

that it is true

2018-09-19 01:47:39 UTC

and always has been true

2018-09-19 01:47:42 UTC

@Deleted User Could you elaborate on that "safety" comment?

2018-09-19 01:47:50 UTC

Sure

2018-09-19 01:48:05 UTC

He’s a BK

2018-09-19 01:48:07 UTC

They at least have a real historical event to base their beliefs on instead of a hybrid mythology written by bronze age Hebrew shepards

2018-09-19 01:48:08 UTC

Yeah, safety, like the good old days of burning heretics

2018-09-19 01:48:08 UTC

@Roarey Just because slavery was *ubiquitous* in ancient times, does not mean it was "moral". It was just as reprehensible back then as it is now

2018-09-19 01:48:41 UTC

@Fitzydog only by our standards

2018-09-19 01:48:53 UTC

Still do the shit in qatar

2018-09-19 01:49:08 UTC

How do Christians rationalize the presence of texts that clearly predate Judaism that various biblical texts are clearly exact or near exact copies of?

2018-09-19 01:49:15 UTC

@Roarey And that's why the Muslims are objectively less moral than us.

2018-09-19 01:49:26 UTC

Hammurabi etc

2018-09-19 01:49:31 UTC

@radeon this is mine meme

2018-09-19 01:49:36 UTC

That a society that mores towards secularism while they may still have the structure that was built by theism beneath them, remove that structure as they move away from it

2018-09-19 01:49:59 UTC

thus removing the foundation

or safety

2018-09-19 01:50:17 UTC

@Deleted User yep pretty much, or go full creationist and claim that the Torah was first and the Babylonians copied the Torah which of course didn't exist yet
