You made a statement before about why we do not follow what the old testament says

2018-09-19 02:12:36 UTC

Yes, a divine agreement.

2018-09-19 02:12:37 UTC

@radeon don’t forget he wants gays to be castrated and be placed in camps <:pepe_hang:460603218766987298>

2018-09-19 02:12:46 UTC

and i was explaining what the old covenant was

2018-09-19 02:12:48 UTC

There is no "one true Bible" because it's a compilation of loosely related texts from various sources that has been added to and removed from hundreds of times

2018-09-19 02:13:01 UTC

and what it became after Jesus died on the cross

2018-09-19 02:13:03 UTC

More like dIvInE aGrEeMeNt

2018-09-19 02:13:04 UTC

I know about the reformed covenant with jesus

2018-09-19 02:13:13 UTC

I already said I've read the bible.

2018-09-19 02:13:13 UTC

Well that is your answer

2018-09-19 02:13:22 UTC

To... what?

2018-09-19 02:13:32 UTC

Like when the Catholic Church straight up deleted a huge chunk of the Bible because it obviously conflicted with the rest of it

2018-09-19 02:13:34 UTC

the new and everlasting covenant is what Christians follow

2018-09-19 02:13:54 UTC

No

2018-09-19 02:13:59 UTC

@radeon And then when you go and try to back up that claim of the "loose compilation", you find that it's stayed remarkably consistent the entire time

2018-09-19 02:14:11 UTC

@M4Gunner Catholics are revisionist scum

2018-09-19 02:14:20 UTC

Do you have to follow a contract after it ended?

2018-09-19 02:14:25 UTC

No, it isn't. The covenant with jesus and the entire new testament does not mention the moral progress we've made since the days of burning heretics.

2018-09-19 02:14:26 UTC

@Roarey that's the convenient excuse for why christians ignore old testament law right? Except when it suits their worldview ***cough Sodom and go morah cough***

2018-09-19 02:14:59 UTC

Everything Christians have done has been in the name of christ. With that damn covenant

2018-09-19 02:15:12 UTC

I am a catholic not a Fundamentalist

2018-09-19 02:15:26 UTC

More like they don't act as a single cohesive group anymore and thusly no longer have the social or political power to say/do whatever they want

2018-09-19 02:15:29 UTC

What is wrong with what Christians have done?

2018-09-19 02:15:37 UTC

Didn't say you were. I'm pointing out history, real history.

2018-09-19 02:15:46 UTC

That wasnt towards you

2018-09-19 02:16:27 UTC

All sin is wrong some sin is mortal

2018-09-19 02:17:11 UTC

Get thots out of your life

2018-09-19 02:17:12 UTC

*Do unto others as you would have them do unto you*, unless the others are gays, heretics, or really anyone who doesn't fall in line.

2018-09-19 02:17:28 UTC

It all stands on one question. Either we've made moral progress over the past several hundred years or we have not. If we have, that is after the Bible was codified, which means the Bible can't have birthed the changes in morality since its creation. If you think we haven't progressed, I'd love to see that shit be explained.

2018-09-19 02:17:37 UTC

*Muh oppression*

2018-09-19 02:17:43 UTC

So selfish

2018-09-19 02:18:32 UTC

@Roarey The bible didn't birth modern moral progress. But religion played a part in it.

2018-09-19 02:18:49 UTC

Of course it did, Im not saying it didnt

2018-09-19 02:18:51 UTC

@Fitzydog by played a part do you mean actively impeded?

2018-09-19 02:19:19 UTC

My argument isn't that religion has nothing to do with morality it's that it isn't the source of morality.

2018-09-19 02:19:41 UTC

I guess the Enlightenment would have happened sooner had it not been for that pesky Holy Roman Empire

2018-09-19 02:19:58 UTC

Homophobia exists almost exclusively because of religion how can you claim religion helped moral progress with a straight face?

2018-09-19 02:20:08 UTC

Religion would not be the source of the objective morality, that would be god

2018-09-19 02:20:29 UTC

@radeon Source? Or are you just making generalized claims to support your argument that Religions causes homophobia?

2018-09-19 02:20:45 UTC

What makes homophobia wrong?

2018-09-19 02:20:45 UTC

@Fitzydog can you give me a secular argument for executing homosexuals?
