You made a statement before about why we do not follow what the old testament says
Yes, a divine agreement.
@radeon don’t forget he wants gays to be castrated and be placed in camps <:pepe_hang:460603218766987298>
and i was explaining what the old covenant was
There is no "one true Bible" because it's a compilation of loosely related texts from various sources that has been added to and removed from hundreds of times
and what it became after Jesus died on the cross
More like dIvInE aGrEeMeNt
I know about the reformed covenant with jesus
I already said I've read the bible.
Well that is your answer
To... what?
Like when the Catholic Church straight up deleted a huge chunk of the Bible because it obviously conflicted with the rest of it
the new and everlasting covenant is what Christians follow
No
@radeon And then when you go and try to back up that claim of the "loose compilation", you find that it's stayed remarkably consistent the entire time
@M4Gunner Catholics are revisionist scum
Do you have to follow a contract after it ended?
No, it isn't. The covenant with jesus and the entire new testament does not mention the moral progress we've made since the days of burning heretics.
@Roarey that's the convenient excuse for why christians ignore old testament law right? Except when it suits their worldview ***cough Sodom and go morah cough***
Everything Christians have done has been in the name of christ. With that damn covenant
More like they don't act as a single cohesive group anymore and thusly no longer have the social or political power to say/do whatever they want
What is wrong with what Christians have done?
Didn't say you were. I'm pointing out history, real history.
That wasnt towards you
All sin is wrong some sin is mortal
Get thots out of your life
*Do unto others as you would have them do unto you*, unless the others are gays, heretics, or really anyone who doesn't fall in line.
It all stands on one question. Either we've made moral progress over the past several hundred years or we have not. If we have, that is after the Bible was codified, which means the Bible can't have birthed the changes in morality since its creation. If you think we haven't progressed, I'd love to see that shit be explained.
*Muh oppression*
So selfish
@Roarey The bible didn't birth modern moral progress. But religion played a part in it.
Of course it did, Im not saying it didnt
My argument isn't that religion has nothing to do with morality it's that it isn't the source of morality.
I guess the Enlightenment would have happened sooner had it not been for that pesky Holy Roman Empire
Homophobia exists almost exclusively because of religion how can you claim religion helped moral progress with a straight face?
Religion would not be the source of the objective morality, that would be god
@radeon Source? Or are you just making generalized claims to support your argument that Religions causes homophobia?
What makes homophobia wrong?
