Imagine telling an American you have to pay a 27% sales tax

^

2019-08-03 12:34:55 UTC

you can't really base it purely on sales tax tbh

2019-08-03 12:35:05 UTC

need to know income tax also

2019-08-03 12:35:50 UTC

if it's 27% sales and 0% income that's way more based than 20% sales and 20% income lol

2019-08-03 12:37:35 UTC

25% on luxuary tax here

2019-08-03 12:38:03 UTC

2019-08-03 12:38:08 UTC

2019-08-03 12:39:31 UTC

2019-08-03 12:39:45 UTC

@Dust 15% flat income tax and additional tax you pay into the social services
The total tax burden (tax + contribution) in case of normal salary is 33.5%

2019-08-03 12:50:51 UTC

In Australia it's called GST (Goods and services tax) and its only 10%

2019-08-03 12:51:26 UTC

Sooo~ I'm told that being German is fundamentally different than being part of any other nation. I mean for sure there are those moral busy bodies that are guilt tripping the majority into submission, but most of the Germans want to live in peace minding their own business. Being part of the "Volk" is rather an expression of being a citizen of the German nation. It's not a mythical entity. Chanting "Wir sind das Volk" (We are the ~~german~~ people) is a way to remind the government and that they are supposed to represent the people and not their own interests and that or foreign powers.
