Cataluña has very rarely been independent and every time they have been it has ended up badly for them.

Cataluña wants to be independent because they think they should never ever help the rest of 🇪🇸... even though 🇪🇸 helps them all the time like with the massive fire they had not even 2 weeks ago.

Current president of Cataluña (Quim Torra) said 8 years ago that Spaniards were "barely-thinking beasts" with "a clear problem in their DNA". Most of the pro-independence crowd think of Spaniards as subhumans.

And then there is what the pro-independence crowd sees when looking back at history. There is a government-funded "institute" that has said that a fuckton of NON-CATALAN figures either were Catalan or had a close Catalan relative. They see themselves as the key to 🇪🇺's well-being among many other things.

A pro-independence Twitter celebrity that has appeared on Catalan's government-funded TV said recently that "if Carles Puigdemont was not able to become a MEP, 🇪🇺 would find themselves forced to repeat the 🇪🇺 elections to clear the mess". THAT'S HOW INSANELY BIG THEIR EGO IS.
