Reason number 98 to keep a carbureted vehicle around when the future happens!
Are you familiar with ethanol as a fuel?
To a degree. So far it's used as an additive. Unfortunately, it is incredibly rough on rubber seals.
I heard it's got a higher compression/combustion ratio (whatever the equivalent to octane is in alcohol) but is less efficient
I wouldn't be surprised. Methanol/Ethanol are a large component of race fuel.
I thought about switching to teflon fuel lines and seals when I got all excited about the ability to make mash and distill it to make my own fuel
But I would need acres of cornfields or fruit orchards for that to be feasible.
It'd be a hell of an undertaking. You can use used cooking oil to make diesel.
I was just apocalypse prepping in my mind
since I don't know how to make gasoline
Unfortunately, hand tools and walking are gonna be the key.
no way, with all our knowledge? It'll be like when you take something apart, the first time it takes forever to put it back together but after that it gets easier each time
When the oil stops, the power stops. No gas. No electricity. It will be put back together, but it won't be overnight.
Except for ppl with wind generators
True, and those with solar panels. Those both, however, are wildly inefficient.
all the stuff we know about metallurgy already, I mean... we won't be using stone or iron tools.
No, of course not.
I mean, I watched a youtube so I pretty much already know how to forge a samurai sword
Lmfao. It's just gonna be awhile of not being able to do much that is considered modern.
We'll have all the old stuff till it breaks
Then, good luck making a light bulb
