I had loved out of there and told them to shut it off
Apparently they kept the service on for another 7 months
I have a dispute with the public utility commission
But I hate paying them now because they keep playing games with the numbers to lower the amount they say transferred in (disputed amount)
And they keep adding late fees for the amount they had transferred in
Don't pay it surely
I wouldn’t.
You'll have proof of the dates you moved out, that might be all you need
Hopefully
Right
So I opened this dispute like six months ago now
The investigator just got back to me
I provided proof the house was sold
Now I'm waiting to hear back
But all of the billing is messed up
They out deposits on my account because of the old balance. Deposit basically is money they keep in case I run out on the bill.
I had sort of a similar problem with o2, a mobile network. My phone was stolen and I rang them and told them and they said they cancelled it but didn't. Instead they kept taking it out of my account and I didn't notice. When I realised I got my bank to log it was fraudulent, which gave me back the money taken, and then entered into a dispute with o2
But I can never pay that deposit amount because they always apply my payments to the oldest amount
Utility companies are the worst
They just argue and lie
You explain why you don't owe what they say and they aruge, you destroy the arguement and they switch to a new argument that contradicts the previous arguement.
I had one lady tell me I could record and then as soon as I started recording she said I don't have permission.
So I recorded anyway. My theory is that if the other party states they may record the call then they are consenting to have the call recorded.
You can't revoke my right to record while maintaining your own.
Those companies all record every single call for their records for 'quality and training purposes'
I hope in the end I can get all of these late fees removed.
If they can then surely you can too
That's my theory
I might just pay like a thousand this week
I assume if the PUC rules in my favor they will have to pay me back
I hope so mate.. Sorry you gotta deal with that along with everything else
You shouldn't have to be paying that much at all
Yeah imagine. I had just got in a new place after living in hotels and my car. I get electric turned on and right away I get a shut-off notice demanding about 900 dollars.
I don't think utilities are allowed to apply late fees here
They are allowed to put on court fees if they have to take you to court to get you to pay
Considering your situation is there no way they can at least waive those? Or agree not to add more?
I'm not used to customer agents being rude to me so idk
No I'm going to have to twist their arm
If they don't play nice after the PUC makes their decision I'll have to hire a lawyer probably
Hopefully after all is said and done there will be a note on my file that says "he's not screwing around" or something.
