Utility companies are the worst

2019-03-22 00:16:27 UTC

They just argue and lie

2019-03-22 00:16:36 UTC

And they are so rude

2019-03-22 00:17:19 UTC

You explain why you don't owe what they say and they aruge, you destroy the arguement and they switch to a new argument that contradicts the previous arguement.

2019-03-22 00:17:57 UTC

I had one lady tell me I could record and then as soon as I started recording she said I don't have permission.

2019-03-22 00:18:28 UTC

So I recorded anyway. My theory is that if the other party states they may record the call then they are consenting to have the call recorded.

2019-03-22 00:19:11 UTC

You can't revoke my right to record while maintaining your own.

2019-03-22 00:19:33 UTC

Those companies all record every single call for their records for 'quality and training purposes'

2019-03-22 00:19:34 UTC

I hope in the end I can get all of these late fees removed.

2019-03-22 00:19:41 UTC

If they can then surely you can too

2019-03-22 00:19:49 UTC

That's my theory

2019-03-22 00:20:49 UTC

I might just pay like a thousand this week

2019-03-22 00:21:08 UTC

I assume if the PUC rules in my favor they will have to pay me back

2019-03-22 00:22:23 UTC

I hope so mate.. Sorry you gotta deal with that along with everything else

2019-03-22 00:22:39 UTC

You shouldn't have to be paying that much at all

2019-03-22 00:23:06 UTC

Yeah imagine. I had just got in a new place after living in hotels and my car. I get electric turned on and right away I get a shut-off notice demanding about 900 dollars.

2019-03-22 00:26:25 UTC

I don't think utilities are allowed to apply late fees here

2019-03-22 00:26:44 UTC

They are allowed to put on court fees if they have to take you to court to get you to pay

2019-03-22 00:27:43 UTC

Considering your situation is there no way they can at least waive those? Or agree not to add more?

2019-03-22 00:27:58 UTC

I'm not used to customer agents being rude to me so idk

2019-03-22 00:27:59 UTC

No I'm going to have to twist their arm

2019-03-22 00:28:21 UTC

If they don't play nice after the PUC makes their decision I'll have to hire a lawyer probably

2019-03-22 00:29:10 UTC

Hopefully after all is said and done there will be a note on my file that says "he's not screwing around" or something.

2019-03-22 00:29:16 UTC

If they don't abide by what the commission determines then wouldn't the commission go after them themselves with fines and whatnot

2019-03-22 00:29:57 UTC

The commission will most likely just rule that I don't owe x amount and not say anything about late fees deposits etc

2019-03-22 00:30:29 UTC

But the fees are caused directly by those amounts being owed

2019-03-22 00:30:41 UTC

Then the utllilitu will not remove any of those and try to make me pay as much as possible and I will have to open another complaint

2019-03-22 00:31:02 UTC

Right exactly but like I said, will have to twist their arm.

2019-03-22 00:31:40 UTC

I provided them with a copy of the sale note for the property and I still had to go to the commission to force them to keep my electric on and dispute that amount.

2019-03-22 00:32:19 UTC

They do not care about logic. They are a monopoly and I cannot just go somewhere else so they don't care.

2019-03-22 00:33:22 UTC

There are no other electricity suppliers at all?

2019-03-22 00:35:24 UTC

That's so odd to me, there are quite a few to choose between where I am

2019-03-22 00:37:24 UTC

I can pick a new supplier but this one company owns the I frastrucure

2019-03-22 00:37:32 UTC

Infrastructure

2019-03-22 00:38:33 UTC

They were the only supplier for a very long time then a few years back some deal they had expired and competitors were allowed to enter the market. But the original monopoly still delivers all of the electricity even if you choose another supplier

2019-03-22 00:40:07 UTC

When you become a PECO customer, you initially pay PECO for all of these services -- generation, transmission, and distribution. If you are purchasing the electricity you use from a competitive electric generation supplier, you would pay PECO for distribution.

2019-03-22 00:42:24 UTC

Besides those other companies are even more shady. They send people door to door claiming to be from their current electric supplier (Peco) and try to trick people in to switching. They often ask for a copy of your recent bill to "make sure you received a discount". In actuality they want to get your account info so they can switch you without your knowledge.

2019-03-22 00:45:08 UTC

I know that probably sounds paranoid or exaderated, but it's the complete truth. It's well known to happen in my area now.

2019-03-22 00:46:52 UTC

Isn't that illegal?

2019-03-22 00:47:51 UTC

Yes very

2019-03-22 00:49:10 UTC

Ring (as in ring video doorbell) has an app that lets you post stuff from your ring doorbell. Someone posted a clip of those people walking up, the lady points at the ring, shakes her head and they leave.
