I think in such a world people would become even more afraid of death by unnatural causes, clinging to their life jealously and hiding themselves away from any danger

2019-06-02 13:58:45 UTC

I think he probably means other people's lives - but, either way, it sounds super interesting.

2019-06-02 14:32:56 UTC

@InsaneCaterpilla I disagree. I think in such a world people would get bored of their constant youth and security and do even more reckless things than they do now

2019-06-02 14:33:13 UTC

Self-harm may even become a form of recreation

2019-06-02 14:35:32 UTC

I agree we need to avoid death

2019-06-02 14:36:45 UTC

@Rai i dont see that, tbh. why? we only think of our lives being "normal" or "right" because it just happens to be what we are used to, an 85 year life with 35 years of youth. but if we had evolved to live 1000 year lives, you'd be saying the same thing- that 1000 years is a "normal" time, but any longer than that and people might get bored. and if it was 100,000 years we evolved to live, same thing. we're just normalizing what we know, but htere's nothing inherently better about it

2019-06-02 14:37:34 UTC

I wish we got to live at least a thousand years

2019-06-02 14:38:00 UTC

I bet if we did though the leading cause of death would be some kind of accident or another

2019-06-02 14:38:36 UTC

You can maybe avoid that for say 89 years but 1000? Much more likely to happen I think.

2019-06-02 14:39:15 UTC

@blueorange22 Maybe that is true, but you sure wouldn't see me changing my lifestyle or my family's just because we have 900 more years to live

2019-06-02 14:39:23 UTC

It's not about how much time we have, it's how we use it

2019-06-02 14:39:34 UTC

We could either use those 900 extra years to live a "normal" life

2019-06-02 14:39:49 UTC

Or we could use 30 to get on our feet

2019-06-02 14:39:52 UTC

Like we do now

2019-06-02 14:40:00 UTC

And those 900 extra years are just gravy

2019-06-02 14:40:09 UTC

More time to do what you've always wanted to do, but couldn't

2019-06-02 14:42:31 UTC

I guess it would be nice if the nanites could keep us youthful.

2019-06-02 14:42:46 UTC

Not juut alive but able to function well too.

2019-06-02 14:43:02 UTC

That's how they work

2019-06-02 14:43:09 UTC

You will never age

2019-06-02 14:43:12 UTC

you will never grow sick

2019-06-02 14:43:22 UTC

You can regenerate any wound to an extent

2019-06-02 14:43:25 UTC

theres a scientist named aubrey de grey researching that. he has a book which is an excellent read

2019-06-02 14:44:34 UTC

Isn't there some big.wig.at.google that is.obsessed with staying alinve long enough to be able to benefit from nanites?

2019-06-02 14:44:36 UTC

The only way you could die was to extreme violence

2019-06-02 14:44:50 UTC

I sure am too

2019-06-02 14:45:35 UTC

I think he takes massive vitamin supplements or something which is supposed to.keeo.him going until nanites are a thing

2019-06-02 14:45:55 UTC

Personally I think I will just miss that technogy.

2019-06-02 14:46:52 UTC

ray kurzweil

2019-06-02 14:46:54 UTC

Future generations though will look back at.the horror of facing a limited life span and wonder how anyone was able to function knowing they would die soon

2019-06-02 14:47:01 UTC

is the one you're thinking of who takes lots of supplements

2019-06-02 14:47:21 UTC

@drew i agree

2019-06-02 14:47:48 UTC

It really is kind of amazing that the entire human race doesn't obsessively work onna way to cure death.
