@Claudiu (aka CallOfVodka) good grief. I didn't want to believe it or thought it might have been a bit of journalistic hyperbole. So, what's to prevent any woman from claiming any man is the father of her child? Does she at the very least have to show some evidence that they know each other? Or could she just walk out onto the street, point at the next man walking by and claim: "you are the father of my child."
Because every study I have read claiming the pay gap exists does not control for those factors, every study that controls for those factors shows their is no pay gap. Apart from anything else it would be illegal to pay women less for the same work in every western nation.
sorry i was actually wondering more about the rape being perpetrated by women as much as men
but even if there are problems with studies claiming a gap, that doesn't prove there is no gap, does there?
@MaitoGuy Right? Why would any man have a job at all if an employer could pay a woman less for the same work? I know I wouldn't...
The studies that control for relevant factors do prove that there is no pay gap though
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4062022/ Study on rape prevelance
wow
It shows a lot of surprising data, women rape each other in prison more often than male inmates for instance
oh i didn't see that part, i was looking at the part about the CDC finding the same nonconcensual sex for men and women
but the CDC study it references
says that 18.3% of women and 1.4% of men are raped? That's pretty different?
Yes because the don't define female perpetration as rape
The study explains that
sorry i haven't found that part, it's really long 😃
No problem, they define men being raped by women as "made to penetrate" in the CDC study
ok so that's 4.8% so you're saying 4.8% vs 14.3% is comparable?
You are comparing the lifetime stats for women to the amount of men made to penetrate in a 12 month period
but why are they diferent?
@MaitoGuy Doing pretty good thanks. :)
oh thanks @Men Are Human 😃
No worries @buddingbimbo . :)
If you compare the 12 month period for both 1.267,000 men and 1.270,000 women reported being raped
By the opposite sex
Although of course they classify the male victims as having being "made to penetrate" so all of this data can be conveniently swept under the carpet
thanks @MaitoGuy i still don't entirely get the statistics but i look forward to learning more
No problem. The 14.3% is the percentage of women raped in their lifetime, the 4.8% is the percentage of men raped or "made to penetrate in the last 12 months"
If you look at table 2.1 and 2.2 in the CDC study you will see the figures I quoted
ok thanks maybe i'll have to ask you more questions later 😃
Good afternoon gents!
No probs
@apeironman I've never heard of any case of picking a random person. It's generally assumed it's the concubine
Hey everyone
Oh no it's that guy! Quick! Go get the Avengers! ;)
