Kosovo is another fake country. it's just an Albanian colony. it should have been annexed by Albania and would have were it not for the post-WWII taboo on land annexations

2019-03-21 15:59:08 UTC

@mattforney oh yeah Kosovo is totally a fake country

2019-03-21 15:59:19 UTC

@mattforney I agree

2019-03-21 15:59:20 UTC

Serbia and Albania tried to split Kosovo recently but the US blocked it. Too bad

2019-03-21 15:59:26 UTC

gay

2019-03-21 15:59:32 UTC
2019-03-21 15:59:34 UTC

and of course the U.S. blocked it

2019-03-21 15:59:42 UTC

multiethnic states are easier to control

2019-03-21 15:59:53 UTC

monoethnic ones are more of a pain

2019-03-21 16:00:43 UTC

@mattforney except in Africa. Multiethnic states there are hell

2019-03-21 16:00:59 UTC

Bosnia's Muslim power elite are eternally loyal to the U.S. because without the U.S. they would get BTFOed by the Serbs (and had been BTFOed before they went crying to NATO)

2019-03-21 16:01:08 UTC

same with the Albanians in Kosovo

2019-03-21 16:01:40 UTC

the KLA got their asses kicked in every single battle with the Serbian military, then they went to NATO with their sob stories and the U.S. then bombed Serbia into submission

2019-03-21 16:02:01 UTC

@mattforney yeah I’ve been researching the Balkans quite fervently at least historically I’m obviously more behind current events but the Kosovo situation I grew up listening to

2019-03-21 16:02:06 UTC

@Deleted User I meant easier for foreign powers to control

2019-03-21 16:02:14 UTC
2019-03-21 16:02:50 UTC

another fake country is "North" Macedonia

2019-03-21 16:02:52 UTC

Glad we didn't get balkanized in the 90s, there were some attempts to spark an ethnic war but it fizzled out.

2019-03-21 16:03:05 UTC

it's half Bulgarian and half Albanian

2019-03-21 16:03:07 UTC

@mattforney we almost put boots in the ground my marine friend was ALMOST deployed until Serbia gave up

2019-03-21 16:03:39 UTC

They only changed the name because they wanted to join the EU. Greece would've opposed it but Germany controls their purse now.

2019-03-21 16:03:56 UTC

and of course we've all laughed at Moldova, the fakest and gayest of countries, consisting of a bunch of LARPing Romanians and Russian transplants in Transnistria

2019-03-21 16:04:20 UTC

don't forget Gagauzia 😄 Muslim Turks but are actually Bulgarians lol

2019-03-21 16:04:32 UTC

@mattforney Lol i has to do a report on that country in grade schoo All we found was they plant apples

2019-03-21 16:05:04 UTC

the borders of the ex-Yugoslav and Soviet republics were designed to foment ethnic hatred and create weak, multiethnic states that would be easily controlled by foreign powers

2019-03-21 16:05:06 UTC

@mattforney they’re that bankrupt of a culture

2019-03-21 16:05:30 UTC

Bosnia and Macedonia are prime examples

2019-03-21 16:05:55 UTC

Agreed Macedonia I would even say is a fake country. It hasn’t been one since Alexander the Great

2019-03-21 16:05:58 UTC

as is Armenia and Azerbaijan: drawing Nagorno-Karabakh, a majority Armenian region, into Azerbaijan

2019-03-21 16:06:11 UTC

and drawing Abkhazia and South Ossetia into Georgia

2019-03-21 16:06:33 UTC

and the massive clusterfuck that is the Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan borders

2019-03-21 16:06:38 UTC

look at that shit if you want a laugh

2019-03-21 16:06:53 UTC

@mattforney oh I have it’s funny

2019-03-21 16:07:33 UTC

Stalin was smart. National delimitation was a booby trap designed to give the minorities of the Russian Empire an illusion of control

2019-03-21 16:07:54 UTC

The only Slav country that split peacefully was Czechslovakia and that place had a big German minority

2019-03-21 16:08:32 UTC

Moving ethnic groups around was also part of Tsarist russia playbook

2019-03-21 16:08:35 UTC

the most stable ex-Soviet republics are Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and the Baltic states since they're the most monoethnic and have the most logically drawn borders
