Great point^
Thats tough. Whites only become based when exposed to diversity. Think about white liberals in Vermont vs. fairly racially conscious whites in the South. The suburbs serve as a white pocket to insulate people against the very same "diversity" they're likely voting for
They voted more Democratic this time in opposition to Trump. They need to be warned of the consequences of voting Democratic.
I had an idea to do voter registration drivers in white working class areas
I don't know if you remember this, but I calculated that if we got half the registered voters in Washington who didn't vote to vote for Trump, we would have flipped the state
Of course, that's a pretty big task and it probably isn't going to happen, but it could work in some closer states
Could definitely have a massive impact in swing states
@Jacob Would IE be doing this?
It's a brilliant idea.
It could possibly be an IE activity
We'd have to be careful not to endorse any candidates, since, let's be honest, an endorsement from IE is gonna be more harm than good in this political climate
@Hakujin - CA where are your Northern or Southern in CA, curous
@celticflame Southern
Ok thanks @Hakujin - CA
We could just use really implicit language about how voting affects your childrens' future
Spent the day going through clothes to hopefully take to another member up north,up near the Paradise fires.
I mean, there wouldn't be much convincing to do. Just hold the drive in a white working class area that's probably right wing anyway.
@celticflame That's beautiful.
Thanks,i know you guys got hit down there too
I have a friend who had to evacuate his family in Thousand Oaks.
Oh man. Yes it is unfortunately
Hoping more of us can get together in spurts, see what we can do to help others out. Lots of folks
So many lost their homes, their whole livelyhood...
Anyways will check back later and see what others think.. gonna go to bed. Have a goodnight
Goodnight.
@Jacob I think some degree of persuasion is always important. I wonder if the same rhetoric would work in the Seattle Suburbs.
ehhh
Seattle suburbs are pretty liberal
and not as white as you think
but I mean I'm not against talking to people from there
@Jacob For sure. Eastern Washington would be the key. These elections results should only strengthen our resolution. 2020 is an opportunity to throw Doug Jones out with Tina Smith in Minnesota. That last one might be tricky, but outside of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota is very conservative.
Yes, Eastern Washington is going to be much easier to get recruits from
Because there's no big liberal cultural center that everyone feels the need to conform too
Even Spokane County is red
Whitman County, which has WSU, is usually light blue
I was meeting up there recently with some other IE members, and one of them was getting complemented for his MAGA hat
have fun walking about like that in Seattle
How did Seattle become so liberal. Pramila Jayapal's district is called the most democratic district with a white majority. Are those people insane?
ya basically
well, Seattle is one of the whiter big cities
