Then you rewrite.
What did you do??
Well, you see, in Dragon Ball, there's a 3 year period from when Trunks arrives from the future, and when the androids are activated.
I thought it'd be okay to add a mini saga, a Galactic Tournament in between that time period, because before Z, Dragon Ball's Character Development happened alot through the use of tournaments.
I wanted to bring that back (partially), but the problem is, this is six months before the Androids are supposed to arrive right? And the fighters know the risk of that battle.
So why would any of them be dumb enough to enter a tournament, when the Earth is threatened?
to train for the arrival of the androids?
Granted, doing a tournament before another tournament saga (with the Cell Games) feels like it could come off a bit repetitive when his whole thing is also to find the greatest fighters to absorb.
yea
Okay after about another 15 minutes of thought, Imma scrap it altogether...
Not even gonna try to salvage it. Just get rid of those 4K words.
There could be another thing to do prior tho... pending on what you think about
Cause the first season of Yu Yu Hakusho had... a sort of tournament, but it was more competitive with obstacles and training to be seen as the 'chosen' one for Genkai, and then the second series arch was the whole dark tournament, and then the third series arch had those dudes... with their weirdo house of games that the team had to get through, which presented different types of puzzles, games, and tournaments
POINT BEING, you could still do a competitive thing, but if you pulled it away from a 'traditional' tournament, that might be a way to switch it up
I was pulling it away from Traditional, but I don't think it was good enough
The tournament, was a 4 division tournament. Each Division had an 8 bracket styled tournament.
When the winner of one Division won their division, they'd go onto the semi-finals
There would be a total of 4 division winners, one winner from each division.
Maybe I'm confused, that sounds like a typical tournament to me lmao
It pretty much is
just less simplistic
So like here's an example....
Let's say Goku was in Division A, Piccolo was in Division B, Raditz was in Division C, and Vegeta was in Division D.
And they all won their rounds in their Division.
So Goku won his first round, the semi-finals in the division, and the finals in the division.
This would allow him to go to the true semi-finals, where he'll face off against one of the others.
It'd be a random draw typically, so for instance, let's just say Goku got 1, Raditz got 2, Piccolo got 4, and Vegeta got 3.
This means, Vegeta would fight Piccolo in the Semi-Finals, and Goku would fight Raditz in the Semi-Finals.
Lets say Vegeta won against Piccolo, and Goku would win against Raditz.
Goku would fight Vegeta for the Championship Title and Grand Prize. This would be the Final Match of All.
Whoever won got the grand prize, and again Championship title.
Another way, maybe a simpler way of putting it would be.
You'd do a normal 8 bracket tournament, then if you win that, you'd do another 4 bracket tournament.
Also, because the Divisions are split, they are far away from each other, in four different massive buildings.
The point of that was cause I was trying to separate Gohan from his father and uncle, two whom he relied on way too much. I wanted to give him combat experience, but maybe a tournament was the best way.
There were preliminaries, but I didn't do anything special with them nor could I think of anything...besides that'd be draggin it out too much. I wanted to see if I could come up with an ulterior motive for the tournament, but I scrapped that because it seemed too unoriginal
I think I'm just going to scrap it altogether
That's p much the kind of tournament I'm used to seeing. Between that, or the one where it goes down from like 32, but even in the tournaments with a LOT of people, it does pairs kind of like this anyway to get to the finals
ye
But this makes me think of the set up for the Yu Yu Hakusho dark tournament
