My parents got me a counselor a few years ago so I could open up about some trauma but it didn't go anywhere. It was just the timing that was bad but I'd open up now if the option was given

If I get another counselor I'm going to take some time in order to get to know them before opening up about anything super personal. It's also always an option to request to change different counselors if you're uncomfortable with one.
