Did y'all see the new S21's? If I was a betting man I would bet that the S30 is gonna come with the hubble space telescope mounted on front.
Question for y'all: how much ram does your windows 10 use at idle?
Depends on how many programs you have installed
Many like discord, epic games, steam, and origin will run in the background
Sitting at 5.8gb with a bunch of firefox tabs and discord
and steam. 5.5 without steam
Mine uses about 4 idle
With all apps closed bit not with end process.
You are a very rare species. Rarely you will see someone use firefox in 2021
i use Pale Moon + Chrome for schoolwork
nah bro it's got all my extensions and it's not google or microsoft based
and on my laptop i managed to pare down windows 10 to only using 800MB at idle, with nothing running
I mean it still runs on "chrome" api or whatever I guess
no it doesnt, firefox uses its own engine
oh ok, good
its one of the last holdouts from chromium
✊
Im more of a duckduckgo person
i thought that was a search engine
ya that's been my search engine for years
A lot of people don't care, but that's gonna have to change in a major way if we want to continue existing. Spread the word, I guess
Despite all the hate, Firefox is still my preferred browser.
It's really the only open source browser now days that isn't based off Chromium or apple specific Safari. There needs to be some competition in the browser world because first you had all the anti-consumer practices of Internet Explorer that took decades to get rid of because websites were designed to only work with Internet Explorer. Now you also have Google pushing for standards that only work with Google chrome rather than open industry standards.
Does Firefox use significantly less RAM? Does it have history syncing across devices and credit card auto fill?
Hate how much ram chrome uses
Firefox in general does use less RAM and CPU then chrome. It also has the ability to sync history and passwords between systems. However, I've never seen a credit card auto fill but that also could be because I use a dedicated password manager to handle passwords and credit cards.
Chrome uses way to much ram
Maybe I’ll go back to Firefox
Thanks! I’m definitely gonna give it a whirl
One thing I like about Firefox is if you close the browser and then restore your session, only the tabs you click will be reloaded unlike chrome. That means you get a working browser faster if you have lots of tabs open and you only have those tabs you visit again going back into ram.
I have to start getting better about closing tabs. When I’m on a hunt to try and figure out some bug I usually end up with 5 windows that have at least 8 tabs each
That definitely ain’t helping my ram
Google has now made a google-wide password manager, so any passwords you enter on your android phone or chrome, it will save on your google account, or however it is, which I think it's better that what firefox does? Not sure
I use Firefox as my browser on my phone and computers so passwords would sync between all three if I didn't use a dedicated password manager.
Ok. Yeah I'm not sure how fluet it is but in that case I think google is one step ahead, since on your phone it doesn't have to be anything on the browser
But from what I remember I didn't care for it a whole lot
anyone know if firefox has any sort of built in RDP extension like chrome does?
I know Opera does, but i dont think firefox does. I could be wrong, but i am 75% sure it doesn’t. @windows96
I'm not aware of RDP in Firefox but I'm curious why that's an important feature.
