we dont worship saints, nor do we have "idols"
we simply ask them to pray for us
just like you might ask your friend to pray for you when you're going through a tough time

2021-01-15 02:33:51 UTC

As for the pope, we respect for his office, just like I would respect the president

2021-01-15 02:34:02 UTC

You pray at... dead people who cannot pray anymore?

2021-01-15 02:34:14 UTC

their souls are immortal

2021-01-15 02:34:21 UTC

when we die, its only bodily

2021-01-15 02:35:00 UTC

The office, maybe you have an argument. However when abusive people hold the office, they degrade it in addition to being unworthy of your respect

2021-01-15 02:35:09 UTC

Yes but they are not on this plane anymore. There is even a bible verse that states once your in heaven if you could look down at others and see them, you might pity them but would be unable to help or feel bad for them in general.

2021-01-15 02:35:53 UTC

I can see your point, but I'll even respect Biden to a certain extent as president
Also, he is not as liberal as he may seem, hes just terrible at communicating

2021-01-15 02:36:24 UTC

Like when a pastor of a church covers up some sort of sex scandal. Only the Catholic church does not change leadership until they die, and certainly no reforms without the popes approval.

2021-01-15 02:36:30 UTC

He's a corrupt puppet, like the Pope. Neither gets or deserves any of my respect

2021-01-15 02:37:20 UTC

wow... that says a lot.
Ill put it this way. "Respect is EARNED not deserved."

2021-01-15 02:38:13 UTC

anyone who demands respect is not worthy of it, much like anyone who has to insist and remind people of something about themselves.

2021-01-15 02:40:47 UTC

"Look, I am not a bad person. Ask this guy, he will tell you I am a great person." Said every Karen as she defends her honor.

2021-01-15 02:41:55 UTC

Overlooking corruption and heresy within the church is central to how Catholicism functions today

2021-01-15 02:42:35 UTC

The pope doesn't ask for respect, we naturally respect him. He has not done anything against church doctrine, and doesnt deserve the shit thrown at him.

2021-01-15 02:43:14 UTC

Not even vaguely. You want to talk heresy? Fine. Protestantism is technically heresy as well.

2021-01-15 02:43:22 UTC

Hmm. It seems to me that endorsing homosexuality is against church doctrine, or transgenderism for that matter

2021-01-15 02:44:09 UTC

Technically heresy in the eyes of the "church" that could not keep their shit together. The Reformation benefited both you and I, and we both know it

2021-01-15 02:44:22 UTC

Whoa ho there, lets unpack that before moving on.
Why do you respect the pope?
Why does the pope naturally deserve respect from people?
What has this pope done that should have earned global respect?

2021-01-15 02:44:22 UTC

He did not endorse either. He is saying that they're not deserving of hatred.

2021-01-15 02:44:41 UTC

Nope, not even slightly. I receive no benefit from protestantism.

2021-01-15 02:45:45 UTC

Ahh, because you know the Catholic church totally was going to scrap their selling of salvation, or restriction on Bible access. Have you forgotten that the Reformation pushed the Catholic church to drop a lot of immoral practices?

2021-01-15 02:45:45 UTC

I respect the Pope because he is the leader of the church, chosen by divinely-inspired cardinals.

2021-01-15 02:46:05 UTC

The bible also states that gay people may not serve in the church as they are living in a life of sin and may not join the church leadership until they have fully repented.

2021-01-15 02:46:12 UTC

How do we know they weren't?

2021-01-15 02:47:03 UTC

What about sitting in a room makes them divinely inspired? Does that mean that all of america is divinely inspired because we vote for our leader?

2021-01-15 02:47:20 UTC

It states that men who lie with other men may not serve in the church. If you're homosexual, and not commiting homesexual acts, than there's nothing wrong with being in the church if you follow the doctrine.

2021-01-15 02:47:42 UTC

With no force to upset the natural order, the natural order continues on the same. It's a basic semantics argument, nevermind the witchhunt the Pope put out against Luther for daring to criticize his corrupt business. Luther had to go into hiding, that's how enraged the Vatican was

2021-01-15 02:48:00 UTC

How is this even vaguely related? No, it's because God inspires them to make the right decision.

2021-01-15 02:48:37 UTC

How exactly can you back that up? Are you say ANY church leadership that votes is divinely guided?

2021-01-15 02:48:53 UTC

if not why only these Cardinals?

2021-01-15 02:50:05 UTC

*You've had too much of a think, time to accept the loving arms of a business, oh I meant to say church*

2021-01-15 02:50:06 UTC

Church leaders, unless corrupted, are inspired by God to make the right decisions. This includes the Pope and cardinals.

2021-01-15 02:50:20 UTC

How do we know they are not corrupted?

2021-01-15 02:50:39 UTC

This not passive-aggresive enough for you?

2021-01-15 02:50:47 UTC

I'm done.

2021-01-15 02:51:26 UTC

The Catholic church is a very pedophilic background and covering it up AND as cardinals, covering it up rather than seeing justice done is very corrupt and THEY are technically the ones in places that could make those calls.

2021-01-15 02:51:52 UTC

That is incredibly vague, like unbelievably vague of a standard. I can easily claim I am "inspired by God" to justify what I want to do. We know from the sinful nature of humans that power corrupts, so it's no stretch to be skeptical of those in authority. Need I remind anyone about the Stamford Prison Experiment?

2021-01-15 02:52:09 UTC

"Do not withhold justice from anyone if it is in your power."

2021-01-15 02:52:31 UTC

Bible verse there for you.

2021-01-15 02:52:56 UTC

Uh huh, justice withheld is an injustice committed
