There is a good chance we will accelerate the push to decriminalize under Biden
Comprehensive what? CCP model of capitalism and the defunding of Social Security and Medicare?
decriminalize >??? who? where? what?
Drugs
I thought this was understood
Decriminalize pot? That is the least of our nations concern
I think it would empty some prisons
Get more folk working and not in jail
you know what? as a die hard republican, I'm SO FOR decriminalizing anything that has to do with drugs, and instead tax it, on both ends, on all ends!!! BUT.... that will NEVER happen, NEVER... so so so many people make their living by having drugs criminalized
Also, do you think college kids are getting arrested for a dime sack on campus and are rotting away in some prison?
@Eden it won’t happen with a conservative government, they love for profit prisons
@inwa most people getting arrested are too poor for college and come from low income homes, cops ignore college kids who do drugs for the most part
and you think DEMS dont like to profit from prisons??? remember Obama, did NOTHING to get people out of prison, it was TRUMP that passed the prison reform and i think decreased mandatory sentences or took them away
It's also political leverage. The US stalled China building a port over our wires in the Panama Canal by using the Clinton Blacklist and we all know how the Clintons loved their drug lords as Biden signed into law locking up the crackheads.
Fair enough. Do you think poor people are rotting away in prison for a dime sack of weed?
obama, biden, clinton are all in cahoots re prisons
absolutely, as a Republican, I do....
@inwa many times people get a record, become part of the system and never get out
When your policy change concept doesn't come to fruition, don't be surprised. Poison in the pot is just now able to come to full boil.
@Eden the left is against for profit prisons. These prisons donated a ton of money to Trump
@inwa we certainly won’t see any movement in that direction under republicans
No, they often times get out over and over again and then resort back to their life of crime and cycle back through.
Dems will all together push for decriminalization of drug possession and drug use (which I'm absolutely FOR), but they will also SLIP INTO THE BILL things like petty theft less than 1k, petty breakins to the cars, anything that has to do with homelessness and drug use. SO
THE EFFECT: there will be no accountability for any behavior, especially among minorities. There will be more DUIs, there will be more violence against regular folks (due to theft and no money), and more severe violence because on the TRADE side there will be more brutality due to higher profits and no accountability on small volume sales and usage.... means drug lords will go wild!
Sometimes they are drug back in because they can’t pay a fine and end up in a endless cycle of being in the system @inwa
What I'm talking about is I am FOR ALL decriminalization of illegal drugs, similar to alcohol, and taxation etc, making sure labs meet safety standards, etc etc, have to be 25+ to buy.... and QUALITY has to be ABSOLUTELY controlled by FDA (this part HAS to be criminalized with severe penalties) - then those fentanyl deaths will go away
which part?
I have some old friends who are high up in the weed decrim ngos. The idea is to decriminalize but make the prices go sky high through taxes which will go to minority causes. It's nothing like what Oregon has where everyone can grow and the price plummets
I/WE will neve get that with either republicans or democrats for the next 50 years
but what I posted ABOVE with dems can and LIKELY will happen
Are you advocating for loosened restrictions of legal opiates?
@Eden you are more likely to get decriminalization with democrats than you are with republicans
Pharma is not going to let us have drugs, nor will weed be free to grow yourself in most places.
@Eden what you posted above is just a speculation you have. It’s just a random fear.
no its not
The drug company monopolies are too valuable
The goal is to keep non violent offenders out of prison and make sure they their entire life isn’t ruined by mistakes people make in their youth
this is already exactly the statutes that are being introduced in Seattle and Portland
In California and some other States, it is no longer arrestable (not even prosecuted, but even arrested) .... arrestable offense to steal anything worth less than 900 USD
