I think that with more effective leadership, we could have been back to work a long time - with just a little creativity. We should have enacted a "war time" posture with things like laws against profiteering. Companies that were allowed to stay open could have had excess profits taxed in order to help offset those companies that had to stay closed. Those funds could have been used to pay businesses to close, if they were deemed to need to be closed or they could have been funds to help put things in place to make them safer. Leadership should have encouraged mask wearing from the start - instead of politicizing it.

Except... I see those as all negatives. I see the USA as having a prominent role in the world stage and we need to lead - not impose our will on other countries, but lead by example. CA has taken a leadership role with promoting green energy solutions and investing in things like Solar and EV's. CA buys half of all EV's made. The CA economy has continued to grow. The advancements in solar technology in the last 15 years has been remarkable and it will continue to get better. I think working to transition to a post fossil fuel world makes a lot of sense. You don't want to wait until it is too late. How could it be a bad thing if we didn't need to rely on oil any more?

Had a test on Thursday 1/7 and got the positive diagnosis 1/8. Thought I was getting better, but it has lingered. Started antibiotics yesterday.
